Had one mushroom grow.



Since then I dunked in water and rolled it in vermiculite. Since then one small mushroom grew (sorry no picture), had another smaller one start and dry out last night (left back). Have it in a container with saturated air right now. Any suggestions?

take a plastic tote, drill a few holes, place cakes inside, mist them, mist the entire tub with water, close lid, then wait.

I have a new preferred method of making holes in the lid: machine screws. For awhile, I was using a 1/8" hole puncher, which worked great however the holes were too big. Then I try to make some new lids yesterday and quickly realized lost my hole puncher. So I improvized and used a machine screw and a hammer instead. It worked really well! The machine screw size was I think is a #8. They are used in common plastic drywall anchors.

I started hammering in the #8 machine screw into the lid on a glass jar using a nail hammer. The hole it made was super round and just the right size for a standard spore syringe gauge. A couple times I had to wack it a few more times, but the round hole it produced was unmatched.

Until I buy a 1/16" hole puncher tool, machine screws with a nail hammer is now my new preferred method :thumbup:

The tek shows how to do it in a pot on the stove with boiling water before it mentions the pressure cooker method.

So a PC isn't required, and it's not even the first thing suggested.

You’re right, I meant to indicate it’s as much effort as the PC method. That’s *much* more beginner friendly than just inoculating some bags of rice tho. :wink:

God forbid people starting out don’t wanna buy a ton of different stuff. No ones shitting on PC. Just acknowledging the PC / steaming rigging process is nowhere near as beginner friendly as some of the more obvious alternatives this community is so opposed to.
