One of the other "jokes" a high school mate of mine said to him, it went something like, "he was poking holes in the condoms to get his girlfriend pregnant so she wouldn't leave him." And then laughing after the tease. Again, an untrue thing, he was not doing that.  That wasn't me who said that joke, but it was something I overheard at a party.

In junior high and high school, I was in a snake pit of malice. It was just a lot of insults and character assassination. Teenage boys get confused about humor, it becomes a risk taking thing, a "close to death" type of playfulness.

I learned to stay away from people, and not get tangled in dramatic or malicious triangles.

I've been considering at the very least greatly reducing my consumption. Right now I spend nearly as much as my mortgage every month on weed. I smoke 24/7, my wife and I are constant rolling machines. Every second I'm awake not doing something for my kids, I'm smoking weed.

But I mean it's starting to be an issue. My son wants to smoke weed, but he's been so misbehaved in school lately and has been doing some bullying so I don't want to add fuel to the fire by allowing it. But my argument sounds hollow when I smoke weed legit nonstop and of course they see it and certainly smell it. So between the financial issues and my kids, I want to at least curb it to a Friday and Saturday night habit.

But man I've smoked so long and so much I get actual physical withdrawal symptoms. Not nearly as bad as what I would get when I was trying to get clean off opiates, obviously, but still very uncomfortable. Lack of sleep, restlessness, sweating a lot for no reason, mild depression, appetite problems. it lasts a decent amount of time too. I just don't know what would ease these negative symptoms in order to slow down. I mean it's not the end of the world it I can't fix it but I also don't want all that thick weed smoke in my lungs anymore. Less is more imo.

I was in a situation where I was smoking every day, from morning till night. It was expensive. I hardly had enough for food, in fact, I was coming up short in terms of monthly bills. The authorities eventually intervened and put me on an involuntary treatment program. Every month I get shot with abilify/apriprizole. This anti-psychotic mellows me out, it levels me, flattens my emotions. I don't recommend it, but I also would not recommend smoking cannabis.

I recommend to every pot smoker to think about what you were feeling, doing and thinking when you first picked up a joint of marijuana, and be honest with yourself, who was that person?  What were the cultural influences operating on you?  Was there anyone there?  I sometimes wonder who I was when I was a teenager, and I question whether or not I really existed. It was like I was some fictional character created by the culture itself.  When I was 17 years old it was the 90s. Having a pair of Jordan's and a New York Yankees baseball cap with flashy boxer shorts and baggy jeans was some kind of special privilege, despite being generic and cliche.  Notorious BIG, tupac, puff daddy, mace, warren G, bone thugs n harmony, lost boyz, the hip hop culture had me hypnotized in a stupor. I really got swept away by the glitz and glamour and style of 90s media / television and music. I look back on it all and just shake my head in disbelief.

It's the Pink Floyd songs that do it for me these days, resonates with that sense of losing one's mind.

Marijuana was fantastic for my needs for many years, I don't want to shit on it too hard or anything. Helped my anxiety, ease into social situations. But I've just moved beyond there being enough benefits to offset the problems it is finally starting to cause around me. It didn't used to be this way but I know when it's time for last call.

I think ill up my suboxone dosage for a few days to maybe mellow me out some as im going through withdrawal symptoms. Then when I feel manageable again maybe after a month I'll discreetly keep weed smoking to special occasions and maybe every other weekend.

When herb got too expensive to continue my habit,
I just started smoking wax
I grew alot of my own herb before that. And also when i stopped, and also as ive gotten older, with a career, i smoked way less.
I smoke enough to brighten my mood in the am. Gone for work for 11-12 hours. Come home get baked/cook dinner/fuck then goto sleep and rinse qnd repeat for my weekdays. My 3 days off i like to get shit done around the house and get progressively high as fuck and less motivated thru the day.
Moderation is key to everthing guys.
And there is always an economical means to which most can support a moderate and developed habit. With little to no issue..
20 years in the bag of smoking here, with no sign of stopping for the forseeable future.

I’ve smoked every day for a long time too.  I was addicted af to every strong opiate.  I fundamentally don’t understand how you can smoke this much weed.  100 bucks can last me weeks.  And that’s consuming a bit every ten minutes daily.

I would venture to say it’s largely mental

:dudewtf:

Also rolling weed is the least economical weed to consume it.  Couple that with habitual consumption and I can see burning a ton of money if you’re smoking top notch buds

Try hitting everything out of a pipe

You’ll at least save money

First you must understand I'm not just covering my weed costs, I'm covering my wife's weed costs. Sometimes we throw in poor friends in the circuit too.

Second, I know smoking isn't economical and wax or vapes is cheaper. But me and my wife since we were 12 have done 90% of our weed smoking out of blunts. Game cigars broke up , innards removed and weed stuffed in. Rinse, repeat. I do have vapes and do purchase wax periodically, but in the end me and my wife end up missing the smell, taste and ritual of rolling blunts.

Third, I believe you have trouble envisioning my costs because you are not aware of the scale of my issues here. For one thing I have a horrendous baked-in (get it? Lol) natural tolerance that is truly obscene, so no matter what drug I take up to and including weed I must smoke 2-3x the nearest person to even reach baseline. Then you add to that the rate i smoke at, which is legit almost back-to-back blunts all day everyday.

"But Quantum, don't you have to stop when you go to work?" No, because I literally chose a shift based on my weed requirements and made a deal with my own supervisor (I'm a supervisor myself) so that as long as i am sure I am on top of my work and help anybody else who needs it at any time, he'll look the other way when I go on the dock and smoke my weed vape or blunt.

When I'm driving to work, I'm smoking a blunt. Leaving work, smoking a blunt. During work, more smoking weed. Arrive home, my wife usually has a blunt pre-rolled for my arrival. As I'm posting right now on shroomery, my phone screen is obscured by the smoke from my blunt. Go take a shit, most of the time I'm smoking a blunt on the toilet. Every week I go through 5 ounces of weed or more during vacations and holidays. Yes, that is accurate.

I also considered growing my own, which would also be cheaper. But I just can't do it anymore... not like this, anyway. My son needs a better example on this score right now, and I need to save money as I am starting a new chapter, selling the house I just finished paying off and moving down South.

Hey there,

I read your post and it encouraged me to reply. Maybe my experiences could be relevant...

I am also a person that has a low THC response. I can eat enough edibles to send an elephant to the moon and not feel a thing. Even when my tolerance is completely reset, the effects I feel aren't as pronounced as I suspect they should be (kinda subjective, but hey) and I know for sure that my tolerance increases significantly faster.

I stopped daily smoking for almost 9 years. I partook on occasion and at a few points I was even able to responsibly use once every week or two. But I wasn't slipping, which was great!

Employment situation changed, got on unemployment and started smoking daily. At first it was awesome, I was able to stop taking my insomnia, migraine, and mood swing meds. Hooray, no more daily medication!

All the changes in the cannabis industry sent me reeling. I really got into it.  Also I had access to the cheapest cannabis in the world, Oklahoma. I'm talking like 5 bucks for a gram of 75% THC dabs. 80 bucks for a 28g baller jar. Shit was stupid.

As you can imagine, eventually it got to the point where I was smoking like 5 grams of dabs per week. Often times more. I'd do a half gram dab just to see if I could, because eventually even dabs stopped getting me high.

I realized I was spending so much time smoking, cleaning up after, and fucking with shit that it was interfering with other aspects of my life. I knew it wasn't right, that's why I hid the frequency of use from my partner.

Eventually I finally fight with myself over the course of a couple months and I've not been "high" in like 48 hours. In reality I haven't even caught a good buzz in months.

For me, that's fucking huge, not using for so long. Others may think that it's too early to say I've ceased, but it took me months to get here. And the only way I was able to get there was by 1. being honest with myself, 2. educating myself, and 3. getting some help from others.

I'm not saying that anyone else should do this or claiming that this is a TEK or anything, but I'm an odd all and this is the only combo of things that worked for me.

I'll drop a bit of detail:

1. Being honest with myself:

I know that I can't just quit. I'm not capable of just having some around the house and only using on the weekends. When I tried to do that in the past, it always ends up with me acting like an addict and justifying in whatever convoluted way my brain needed to, getting into my stash before I was supposed to. So I had to admit that to myself, that I just can't handle it. So many people can and do! That was fucking hard because I have a big ego and don't like admitting my faults. Once I opened up to myself and accepted that the "me" that wants to stop and the "me" that wants to smoke again were not going to get along very well, and it would take a lot of work to get where we wanted, it made things easier. I hated admitting that I was weak enough to lie to myself and come up with excuses as to why I needed to get high again.

2. Educating myself:

Learning the mechanism of how THC works and affects the brain, how my endocannabinoid system works, and WHY once I got this far into the addiction, it doesn't work anymore... It helped. A lot. I never thought about why my tolerance was increasing or anything, who gives a fuck? Just do another dab. Once I learned about these things it was clear for me to see that the only way I can indulge in the habit is to have a complete tolerance reset in between each session. Otherwise I'll be chasing the dragon. So I did the math came up with an actual dosing schedule that will work for me after my cessation break (I'm on day 2 of 90). If (let's be real here, when) I do pick up cannabis again I will adhere to this strict schedule, and if I start to slip again at all then I'm quitting permanently. That will be the last chance for weed to be a regular part of my life. Knowing myself, I needed to have personal accountability beyond what I was capable of producing which segues into

3. Getting help from others:

I clearly am unable to manage my habit by myself. This one was probably the hardest element for me. I had to expose the shitty shit I just uncovered about myself to those that I love, in order to get better. This one fucking hurt. Real bad. But I revealed to my partner what was going on. They are 100% on board with everything. I had to tell my source and all the people that I plugged to not give me any access to concentrates. So yeah, the people I love most and also people who are basically strangers to me know that I'm weak. That I can't handle a silly little "natural" plant that millions of people use and don't get addicted to every day. Fuck

To speak to your specific situation, it sounds to me like you may be as addicted to the actual blunt smoking aspect as much as the THC. Perhaps you could try modulating and getting CBD strains and increasing the ratio gradually over time until you're not on getting any THC at all. Then at least you've taken care of one prong.

I also shaped and molded my life around my habit. Eventually I just had to decide which was more important. The life I wanted to have, or the life I had created and carefully built around my habit. I think your children could be a good source of inspiration for you. Idk, we all have our own reasons.

My partner doesn't smoke so while she couldn't understand my personal addiction, it was easier for her to help hold me accountable. In your case your partner will likely understand that side, but perhaps because she uses too, you may experience more setbacks than you would if you had decided to quit by yourself. It would be impossible for me to quit if I had someone around the house using all the time.

Anyways I just thought I'd share. Maybe if I had read some similar advice to this a while back I could've started this chapter sooner.

Take care
