Hey everyone! This is one of my first 3 agar plates that I believe is myc, not mold. I know the pictures aren’t great, but is anyone able to ID whether it’s myc or not? I got an opinion from a friend on here earlier today before the transfer; they believe it to be myc. The other 2 plates were contaminated w/ green mold.

I’ve watched Beefs agar videos and learned a ton doing my transfers today.

The thing with molds on plates is they usually show their hand fairly fast ( penicillium/ aspergillus/trichoderma ect ) and will normally sporulate very quickly on  Les then 2 percent nutrient substrate , take your transfers get your shit together and rock the fuck out you got this

Word lol. I got my grow room setup much, much more effectively as of yesterday.

Got a lot more cultures running atm. Waiting to see germ. Hoping the T1s the plates posted turn out well. It’s Leucitic Wikidzon, excited to work with it. I’ll be moving onto bulk as soon as I get a proper culture to work with. Thanks Cron!

Cool Plin I transferred from a spore print. It was super tiny when i transferred it so I’m surprised it a) kept growing and b) opened its veil.  Does that mean it’ll drop spores…? And then grow on the same plate? I’m so confused.

Keepin it real thank you!

Just busy all the time growing mold, talking to people about mold, and analyzing mold metabolites. 

Turns out that without extremely sophisticated instrumentation, genetic identification and chemical characterization are only "close" with a wide margin of error. Universe juice doesn't like to fit into boxes...
