All regular plates have vented lids right? I buy my plates from the local lab supplier and I pay the same, even if I just buy 1 pack(10 plates).


Maybe I'm misunderstanding vented?  I thought that meant they had extra vent holes or something.  Yeah, I guess an unwrapped plate would be "vented" :shrug:

I use em as soon as they are cool and typically only pour as many as I need in a session.  Granted I'm not moving anywhere near the numbers some people are.

Yeah, that was my thought as well, if they have a hole and a filter I would run in the opposite direction :runaway:

These little circular spots on my colonizing sub, not feeling good about em. Never seen it, assuming someone here has. The little blue spec is something that just floated in there and I didn’t take it out for another pic, has since been removed.

Vented simply means the petri doesn't sit tight to the rim , usually just a couple pieces of plastic, I've never had issues using either though

lots of good responses here, so thanks everyone.  i do have a dedicated room with isolated HVAC and a SAB for this.  I used 5 of 25 from this stack and I'll use the rest as soon as I get time.  waiting a week made sense on the first batch but I really questioned it as an ongoing process element so I'm glad I kicked it back to this thread.

Every disposable and reusable plastic dish I've ever seen or bought has vented lids.

Guess maybe I'll get some and  try them and let you guys know. Just wish the 500 pack wasn't the only option lol.  Im hooing theyll be ok Since microposse is a known brand. And I have used their autoclavable pp5s for no poures.

But I'm finding out I'm not liking them because of the way the lids fit. They're thicker anddon't fit super flush against the bottom half. Leaving a bigger Gap althe way around were the lid and bottom meet.

It becomes even bigger and more of an issue holding the plate with a little bit of pressure while wrapping them. Easier for contams to crawl up under and fallen. And it also stretches out my parafilm and isconstantly tearing because of the tension covering those gaps. I'm going to make the switch over to pouring.

I folded the para film multiple times so it was really thick. And I've already had to replace it twice over the past 3 days because it just keeps splitting right there where the big gaps are.

Just been burned by the zon enough times to be suspicious of anything they sell for a VERY good price.

I leave my plates in the PC for a couple days to prevent condensation. When I take them out, they're ready to go. If there's anything in there that was trying to grow. It probably showed itself by then.

I don't think vented lids is what we want for our purposes.

Cut a roll of clingwrap to the plate thickness, and use it like tape!  It's great!

I have a hard time pulling the trigger on things from Amazon regardless of the price. So I'll always feel better if I can get at least one or two people to verify anything I'm interested in before i do.

Don't like buying from Amazon? You can always just go put a notice up at a local health clinic asking for people to save their baby food jars. No worry about gaps or tape then. Seriously I just buy the 4 oz PPU sauce cups with the attached snappy lid. I hate fooling with tape and it speeds my workflow.

I can kinda see that. I did 3 jars and like 30 transfers of the 5 varieties I've decided to fuck with all at once and I was pretty pissed off at the lids by the end
