I use gellan gum. Doesn't get clearer than that.

It comes out like water agar

I want to make my agar as clear as possible for photographing plates. Would a pre-boil followed by a coffee filter prior to the PC be beneficial?
Or not?
Any other tips?

I've never done any of that and get clear plates. I use the recipe found in my signature.

Reading through your thread, I think I could save myself a lot of time by buying higher quality LME.

I made this in my garage for organization but was just looking at it thinking if it would be possible to have monotub stacked this way? Maybes Bods unmodified tubs. Would a light at the very top be enough for all the bins going down? I would probably only run one column.

Setup like that should be fine. Light shouldn't be too big an issue. Lots of people grow with whatever ambient light is in the room for cubes at least. You'd have to resize for the size of your tube. If unmodded doesn't work you could use ez dial and still likely get enough airflow. I haven't done it though so grain of salt and all that

If gnats get into the substrate, is there anything I can do? Just quarantine it and hope for another flush?

Having my weed plants and tubs in the same space seems to be problematic.

Stacking that many tubs wont have enough fae if unmodded

Has anyone tried spreading cinnamon powder? I had a houseplant with a massive infestation of gnats and I spread cinnamon powder on the soil. They were gone in a day. I have NO idea what the impact would be on a sub.

Those tubs aren’t resting on each other. They slide on 2x4s  that the tub lips rest on.

Yes, there is. Next to every post there's a unique number and if you click it, it'll take you to the exact spot you're in. And then copy the URL.
That URL will take you to that exact spot in that thread.
That's how I made the index for my manual.

It would discourage adults from laying larvae in other tubs.  But a single adult female can lay 300 eggs.

BT cab kill the larvae, but produces trace toxins that can cause stomach upset for some folks.

I heard 3% hydrogen peroxide mixed with three parts water works too, but didn't try it.

Yea that’s why I thought the unmodified tub would be best but maybe there isn’t enough space in between all the totes for FAE?

I knew how to link posts.  Anchor was the function I was looking for.

Thanks though

One other item I have and it works shockingly well is a Zevo trap. I have it close to the plant so it could be the combo of both that worked for me. This works inside the house and garage for me.

Which reminded me to check them. Garage on the left. Near the plant on the right.

Misting with diluted peppermint oil worked for me after about a week. The tub didn't flush that well before contaminating, but I was having a lot of failure then so I can't say whether it was the gnats or just shitty spawn.

The fuckers did dissappear though.

You want 100% pure peppermint oil, not essence, 1 drop per 100ml of water

Click the "why agar" link in my signature. 45 mins corrects multiple potential issues before they arise. I can ensure proper sterilization for any volume of liquid, I ensure all solids are uniformly dissolved which eliminates sediments and increases clarity  without requiring boiling or mixing prior to cycling.

That makes sense. Thanks for the great link, I'd actually read it before, but it was definitely worth a re-read. Based on the chart you included, I'll be increasing my autoclave time to a minimum of 30 mins for my 250 ml bottles.
