I think it may be the matter of perhaps eating mushrooms on a full stomach? Also if you're making tea, you could be losing considerable potency. I tried the same dose of mushrooms with double bring to boil, wait and strain versus just grinding up, soaking in pomegranate juice. The latter was so much more potent that I may not ever bother with tea.

We ate them dry and not on a full stomach.

I remember somebody saying the more mature they get the more potent they get. But I didn't know that you needed to let them mature more in order to get proper effects. I figured since I tested them and they tested out so extremely potent at 22 mg which is almost at the top of the chart..

I assumed letting them go any longer wasn't really going to have that much of an effect since they're already so extremely potent.

compared to the potency of the cube I normally would eat which would be around 14 or 15 mg. That's what confuses me.

If they're measuring so extremely potent? then shouldn't that be good enough?

Or is there something about they just affect you better when they're more mature even if tho they are already more than potent enough?

I wish this was the case for us.lol

1.2g was nothing. And 2g was barely anything better.

Now I'm thinking if 3g to 3.5g doesn't work for us  next time. I'll probably give up on this batch.

at least hold back  my opinions towards them until I grow some more and try them out again.  and Hope there's a difference.

I can't imagine it's something unknown about my wife and I that makes them effect us so minimally.

Could be a psiocin vs psilocybin thing then. Did one need to be metabolized by the liver and other didn't but one of them was less stable?

You’d sampled the flush earlier and the fruits affected both of you but the same flush after drying came up lame? I can see where logic isn’t fitting in here.
Fresh or dry, mine have always said  Hello, We’re Here! in all caps but I’ve always let them mature to spore drop. That doesn’t appear to be the problem in your situation.
3.5g makes my palms sweat.

That's so unexpected to me unless you tested fruit much older than that consumed. Otherwise, I wouldn't expect extreme variance.
Is it possible that the lighting when interpreting the results wasn't ideal, making it look darker? It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case with some of the super high results for cubes in the QTests thread.

Im Using the colometer meter. So no that wouldn't be it. And all the same batch.  Tested twice. I picked  multiple samples of fruits from different parts of the batch and grinded them all together to get a good average base potency of the batch.  Tested Once the week ealier. And again 7 days later. Basically Same results on test.

@tao.  Yupp that's exactly right.

Anyways I appreciate everybody's input. it doesn't seem like there's really gonna be an answer other than it's affecting us differently for whatever reason.

@callmehippieS - if I were you, next time I'd try 2.5 grams, with a 0.5 grams top up on the side 'if needed'.

Max I've done is 2.7 grams - it's intense!
A comfortable dose for me is 2.2 grams.
I barely feel 2 grams dried.

Please! Don't jump from 2 to 3 grams.
Semperviva can be VERY destabilizing.

Hate to ask this but did you mention substrate? Amount of grain in sub? They definitely look mature enough. I had a tub of these that lasted me about 4 years kicking around in bags. I like high doses, usually I'd been mixing with 500-750mg dxm (not recommended!) and taking 2-3g was good to get to the "sex with god" experience. I started having some extreme paranoia show up.

Basically I'm like many others here wondering how these aren't that potent for you.

But I never get visuals really. Things breathe and have textures but it never goes deep into things I saw when I was taking these in my teens. Acid, mescaline, mushrooms, nothing to see really like when I was young. It's about the feels.

Hey Hippie,
I think that am in the minority here, but my experience with subtrops has been that they are less visual. In fact, they are by far my most popular species with all who have tried them in part because they don't cause the visual and head space distortions of cubes and pans and even tamp stones. My crew all like that they give the energetic boost and positive feelings without the creepy factor.

To be fair, none of them are taking heroic doses. I share them as gummies to all but the most experienced users, so controlled dosing and redosing is more manageable and managed. I have taken some higher doses, not heroic, and did get nice visuals but not the intense-"can't make it stop" kind.

So maybe it is more genetics of the lineage than we generally think. I have the most experience with a Melgo line. I have two others that will go into heavy production next but I haven't really eaten or shared them yet.

Just wanted to share my experience since it seems similar to yours.

Rev do you have a favorite grain that you use for flour? I’m interested in the additional flavor profile, or actually lack there of going into gummies.

When I grew my first crop, I didn't know many of the nuances of growth. I tried 2 grams of dried mushrooms. It was fun, but not as intense as I'm used to with other types.
After some time and taking into account the numerous experiences of this forum, I grew completely different mushrooms in terms of effects.
Taking 16g of fresh mushroom, I begged for mercy from my eyes and all the worlds around me. Semp is like a good wine, it gathers magic with time, and I'm incredibly happy about it. The average shrinkage of the crop was 15 times, so 16 g. equaled 1 g. dry. That's my experience.

For flavor profile, I would say rice is the most neutral, but it is such a pita that I don't like to work with it. My personal favorite is white quinoa, which is not quite as difficult as rice, but also expensive. Some say that it has a bitter taste when eaten as food, but I don't get that myself. Not sure if that is a white vs red or mixed thing or I just me.

This is what I use. I get it at CostCo.
