thats a little bit of a mask-off moment for them.  they're not worried about that because they have every intention of retaining power by dismantling democracy and breaking the law faster than they can be held to account.

conservative media and politicians have spent 30 years lying to their audience to such extent that modern American conservatives are whipped sheep at this point.  they'll bend themselves in pretzels trying to defend contradictory statements from their dementia-addled fascist cult leader and everything has become team sports.  they've proven over and over a willingness to vote and act against their own self interests if they think doing so will piss off or hurt a political group that wants nothing but a better life for them and everyone else.  they have no ideology and no platform.  everything is an opposition point or designed to stick it to some nebulous boogeyman.  zero personal responsibility or responsibility as a group.

obama broke their brains.  a black president that was widely loved was just more than racist conservatives could handle.
