I found this SSLC of Nat/Ochra/whatever(:shrug:) from last summer, from a clone of a fruit from a buddha head novelty grow.

I poured it on some grain.
It is my fond hope that doing this will cause mushrooms.

Four jars, one pour.
Wildly varied results, which wasn't entirely unexpected. I don't think I mentioned that this grain is also quite old and has been sitting on a shelf since it was processed last summer.
I shall send the one on the far left soon.
The next jar appears to be Nat/Ochra/whatever(:shrug:) but it's colonizing very slowly, likely significantly contaminated and/or the grain is too dry.
The two on the right are mold, probably won't send those.

That slow Nat/Ochra/whatever(:shrug:) jar got its act together. It's pot nerfect but I done sent dem bitches anyway

So this, but instead of two jars now it's in a shoebox with some coir. The coir was also several months old, if you're wondering.

Now I don't have anymore leftovers to play with, which meant I had to do some actual work. :uhoh:

I usually pour beautiful plates.
I did not pour beautiful plates on this inauspicious day, so you get this crap bottom view of this shitty plate full of condensation and (what I'm hoping is) Panaeolus Cyanescens mycelium.
It's a wee speckly but I'm generally pleased with the clarity of the agar, that's an unnecessarily thick pour we're peering through.
Also I made too much agar.

Update - 22.1.25

I haven't seen any germination from the tamps yet. so I'm taking some fresh swabs directly to agar this time.



Trying these Nasopharyngeal swabs. They work well, pick up and release spores efficiently. They are plastic/nylon, I prefer using degradable materials.

TTBVI made some moves, so I went agar to agar. My Bispo is looking good so hopefully the next move can be to grain. I’m endlessly nervous about the whole hpoo/grain thing. Looking forward to showing off my little mini-jcm setup thing I’ll be doing for fruiting. … Might wait to see if it works to show it off though. πŸ˜‚

edit: made some bisporus t1's



still bungling transfers. can't see trying to do the lid cracked with one hand style, end up gawking at the open plate like a cretin for minutes trying to choose where to cut from. marked lids, then unwrapped and turned lids so the marks don't correspond to anything :lol: took three samples of each. lucky if they're clean.




transfered two wedges each Tidal Wave and Golden Hawk to pucks, trying to learn to clean shit up.

Cubie T1s kept looking great (also another germ plate did what it's supposed to do), so I made a T2 for backup and will send some T1 samples to grain once it's cooled. Maybe sent a flake of the getm plate too, see what happens.

Spelt really positively surprised me, so it's gonna be spelt.

I so feel this!  Even trying to see the wispy growth through the top of my SAB is basically useless. I poke at my agar and transfer a small bit and hope for the best. My first ever Bispo goes to grain tomorrow, so got lucky somehow.

A couple of things where done today. The first was pouring 30 plates, I'll leave them in the SAB a day or two before I wrap them.


Then TWxPE6 T2 to T3's.


I though one of the x7x+ T1's looked pretty good, so I thought fuck it, I did two T2's from it and then I sent to grain. Several reasons for that. I just got a bag of wheat and I need to practice grain prep as I've only done Oats before. Second I am using small 350ml jars to see if I can see any difference with modded and unmodded lids, and lastly, well, I needed to do something else then agar :lol:

Now don't you worry about that 4 o'clock, that is just my agar mountains because my agar was starting to solidify at the end of that pour :biggrin:

Took a while but I sent a couple of T1s and a T0 to grain (cubensis). I am curious about how they'll do on spelt, but the woodlovers really like it.

For comparison: cubie on spelt, just inoculated. IWL on spelt, three days after a shake.

One of my PE7 plates has germinated!!!! I was able to rescue some shitty vendor LC - thanks to everyone here :thanx:

I cleaned it up on agar a bit, knocked up some BRF pucks Jan 19th (Josex poke FTW!), let them fruit, took 2 spore prints, used the second one to swab a plate and  BAM!!!!!! Signs of life! And eligible for this LAGM project!!!!

26/1 Update:

Took 2 T1s via Josex' Poke into fresh plates. I chose to take them from the plate further back, as growth has been much more noticeable. Should see results in a few days, but I'll try to stay patient. Mornings/nights have been fairly cold so I can't expect everything to progress at breakneck speeds. It's an opportunity to practice patience :smile:



Once I was done, the new (now blue and improved!) PDA plates were wrapped and labeled.


They came out slightly tilted/uneven, but they should work alright. I'll get em prettier next time :fairy:

Aw hell yeah.  Awesome seeing you joining in ekabpils :raisemyglass:

As per usual,  I have to throw a sus T1 to grain while I wait.  Was the better looking of the stropharia alcis T1s, and the T2s are all demonstrating their hate for my using potato broth with no yeast or anything in a pinch.

Adding pan cinctulus (WA) to the mix since even my new neoxalapensis germ plates are showing no growth (which is infuriating since I have T5s just sitting there lol).  I streaked these cinctulus plates like a week ago and they germed in <48hrs and already are producing copious pseudosclerotia.  Older print,  so that was nice.

Of course I overcooked my oats since I'm using a couple very iffy T1s, but committed a 24oz and an 8oz for the stropharia, and dropped some caerulipes, semilanceata, pan mystery sp SA, and kodama.
