The body and the blood of christ in one helping or this is turkish delight with almonds marinating in honey? Either way would be otherworldly and will definitely let you blast off into heaven.

That looks like a couple of years fridge stored grain. You planning to test this for potency?

I’m doing a legit as fuck science experiment tonight!!!

The last few days I’ve been wearing a heart monitor from my cardiologist. Trying to figure out some dizzy spells I’ve experienced  over the last few months that have been concerning.  Anyway, It’s a 5 day test where they basically record my heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels etc. At the end of the 5 days I get a complete report of the readings over that period.

Do you do much strenuous labor or sweating in general?

I work out 4-5 times a week and hit it pretty hard. I’m in good shape. Healthy for 47. The reason for the monitor is to check for anything irregular that may be causing the light headedness.

I have experience with dizziness. Happened to me at about that age. I happened to be tripping first time I lost consciousness. I was walking around naked in the moonlight, and woke up on my face, leg broken, spiral fracture. After all the tests, a few epileptic mis-diagnosis, and a good neurologist later, it was something called vasovagal syncope. It's caused by lack of electrolytes. It is brought on by lots of labor/sweating, then later that night, usually after weed, I would get a quick flash of nausea, then wake up on the floor a minute later.

I now make sure I balance my electrolytes, mostly in the summer. No problem since. A few years after my leg break, a friend had the same injury. From the same condition. So, there's that.

My confession: I'm bad at making anexic spawn. I managed to make 1 round of jars well, and I really thought I had turned a new leaf. I made up like 20+ jars over a couple weekends and used 5 plates to inoculate them all, all different varieties, all with evenly sectored tomentose growth, and all 20 jars are showing several skipped grains. Bacteria keeps showing its ugly head and kicking my ass.

I vented my PC for 10-15 mins. I over cooked my grains at a low simmer until they were as clear as I could get them, dried them overnight, and was careful with how I transferred the agar.

I just dont know what I'm doing wrong. I've read Stipe's checklist and thought I reduced vectors.

I'm going back to the drawing board with plins and clones from the few fresh fruit I currently have. I'm doing up a batch of water agar, and maybe I can get some rhizo growth that way.

Super bummed out right now.

yo before you toss those jars let me see them please.  i know theres this hard-line school of tossing every jar that shows a single sign of contam but i fully disaagree with that.. its wasteful.  ive got canopies from jars that showed a wet grain or two.

These were shook 48hrs ago and are some of the worse ones

Some examples of the ones that were shook earlier this week:

Example of what I think a clean plate looks like:

A jar that was slower than the other three that didn't make it into my most recent tub that went green. The others looked similar but grew faster. This one had skipped grains like the first set of jars but ended up looking like this 2 weeks after the final shake:

The tub that went green I torched the green because fuck it why not:

One of several nat plates that I'm probably going to toss because it's fluffy AF

also watch you get a bunch of boomers on that torched tub.

my agenda is boomers and helping people get boomers.  we can work on your sterile work.  my thinking is that your plates arent quite clean yet.

What do you mean by clear?

Nats will get fluffy especially if it's prone to overlay.

Water agar won't likely rhizo but lowering your nutes will and I suggest a little extra agar 2.2-2.5%.

+1 to this.

I dont think I'm ever going to trust my eyes to know clean spawn until I can hold it in my hand and create a baseline. The vast majority of my jars dont look good to me but they also dont look bad. I may as well be blind. But I've had some outstanding results, by my standards. So until I get over this hump, it's full send unless its obviously shit.

Just grow some mushrooms and try not to get caught up in the score keeping or perfectionist mind set. Im struggling with that myself, but if I stop and consider that this shit is not that deep and Im supposed to be having fun, then I can kind of snap out of it. Yes, there's value in doing things right, but obsessing over it sucks the joy out of a hobby. Continue to try to improve, but work with what you've got in the meantime.

I’d try running the culture through a Cabin sequestering and try a different grain than oats.. lots of ppl have had trouble with oats and bacteria.  Big fan of hard red wheat personally.  Maybe just source a small amount so you don’t invest a lot if it isn’t the oats.
