What's going on here?

I took this transfer from a BRF puck.

It's the only one (of four) that looks spiky and spiral.

Ecuador cubensis.

I have 2 trays of P. mexicana "Rancho Agosto" that look like the below picture:

Is this funky mexicana mycelium or something else? It looks a bit like dog hair.

I’d be sketched out by that. Looks like mold to me, how fast is it moving?

I am not sure how quick it's moving, I spawned these trays about 7 days ago and this is my first time properly checking on them.

Usually I would toss immediately but this mexicana has some funky looking mycelium.

haha.  AI ain't that bad.  Honestly it does an amazing job at parsing complex questions.  I've literally spoken at length into the mic numerous times, and google AI summarized  10 sec- to a minute long rambles into coherent answers.  That's where I see the most consistent benefit.

Also it's only 1 of 3 things vying to change our life times forever, like social media, but not even the worst or scariest of the 3 either.  The other 2 things are civilization ending for sure.

Running the same PE I’ve been running this year. This time due to the cold weather, RH in the room was pretty low. My surface area still looks pretty good but I’m getting yellow knotting on all my bags. Wondering if that is normal?

I love Star Trek TNG, and I look at AI sciences as a step towards building a Data.

Recognizing patterns, or spitting out information is just a small part of a true artificial being.

Some people seem to be OK with machine learning, but draw the line at AI. I look at them all as individual aspects of a fundamental brain. You have to walk before you can run.

Sure they take up huge data centers and create a lot of pollution now, but eventually technology will advance to the point where all of that isn't needed. All our cell phones are an order of magnitude more powerful and smaller than the computers we used to land on the moon. The same will be true for AI one day.

Disliking AI is the same as disliking science in my mind. It's anti-progression at it's core regardless of the individual arguments against it.

Is this an example of hillbilly expressing two different phenotype?

made with one LC syringe and inoculated into one Milo bag. Spawned  into two shoes

One has the kind of wavy pumpkiny caps.

the other have a look more similar to dongs

Sorry if this is an insanely obvious question. I'm still very new and don't have a real grasp or base of knowledge on much of these things.

So far I've just successfully grown them and that's pretty cool LOL.

I wasn't aware it was possible for this to happen from the same LC out of the same syringe. I thought it was more of a Ms type of thing.

So if someone could help clear this up for me is it more like Ms will produce any random variety and that's always a gamble you never know what you're going to get.

However if you are starting from an LC then does that mean you're going to always get the same variety?but  it has the ability to express whatever phenotypes that variety is known to express?

And you don't know what you're going to get as far as that as well unless it's a clone?

Sorry for all the questions in one. Hopefully it's not too complicated. Anybody able to clarify some of this for me?

Yes that's what I do and I store them for even longer than that. I put them in a ziplock bag and leave the ziplock bag a little open because I noticed if you totally seal the ziplock bag a lot of condensation ends up in the plates. I made successful transfers from agar plates that was stored in the fridge for 4 months. I also inoculate grains with agar straight out of the fridge without waiting a day. I don't know if it makes a difference but it works.

The refrigerator is a bacterial playground.  Keep those ziplocks sealed regardless of the condensation.

Oops, I forgot to mention I have a small fridge strictly for mycology. Yea I'd totally seal the ziplock bags if storing in your regular fridge with food in it.

How terrible/risky would it be for me to just G2G with this?

It's first transfer after swab. Am I just being too impatient? 🤔

There’s nothing wrong with sending it and also taking a transfer to a new plate. Maybe some lost grain and time. The picture isn’t defined enough for me to say “100%”

I have oak chips and dowels purchased for wine making but have never used them, would this make suitable spawn material for cyanescens and how successful would a straight spore soak be?

Just...no. Being opposed to the proliferation of the glorified auto-complete the tech grifters are calling "AI", created with the largest intellectual property theft the world has ever seen, which is so wasteful in power consumption that tech companies are touting nuclear power as a necessary component of their long term strategies, and which routinely makes up believable-sounding bullshit when given even reasonable prompts, is not the same as disliking a methodology for discovering how nature works.

I’ve never done it before, but I believe oak chips would be the way to go. There’s a woodlovers thread that would have better answers than what I can provide.

If people had this line of thinking about the atom bomb, nuclear medicine wouldn't exist at the level it does today. Hundreds of Thousands of people have been saved from cancer and other issues because of it.

The fact is that the human race understands more about artificial learning now than before AI. Even the failures related to AI teach us something. Science is about advancing human knowledge at it's core. Rejecting knowledge is anti-science.

Unfortunately most AI isn’t being used to advance knowledge, it’s being used to replace workforces along with manipulating us to sell us crap we don’t need and ultimately advance the profits of multinational soulless companies who would happily see all life and social cohesion destroyed if it meant making more money  but we can take this to the pub for healthy debate as there’s cult questions that need answering 👍

Small variables in grow parameters can change how each tub expresses, could be a difference in substrate thickness means less headroom that limits airflow and creates more humidity in your case, at least that’s what it seems from your photos, unless those tubs are different sizes?
Either way, I’ve grown clones out by quartering a plate into 4 bags that go into seperate tubs that are practically identical as far as I was concerned and got 4 completely different grows, it be like that
