I cant seem to get anything but blobs in my ape grow no matter what I try. Lower spawn ratio, pseudo casing, standard casing. Still just blobs! happenin to my jack frost as well, So frustrating!

Try some normal cubes , I get the hype n all but at the end of the day a tub full of b+ is far better than a tub half full of jack blobs

Im running normal cubes as well. I have my own isolation of ecuador, and just isolated two different nice plates of burma :mushroom2:
Is jack frost prone to blobs too?

JF is a cross of TAT & APE, so blobs are possible if you're growing APE dominant phenotypes.

I understand this wasn't directed to me. I'm pretty certain that JMF is a normal cube. The Iceberg is an albino Thai Lipa Yai which i think is also a cube but with a bit of work done to it. I'll give the Iceberg some more time to see if they open up at all. The JMF I'll harvest what I can when veils start tearing. What is the typical protocol for blobs? My plan was to remove everything pins and all, soak or dunk, then case again and hope for the best for a second, more regular flush.

Remember blobs are active...

Also fruits can emerge from blobs (with some varieties)...

Whats the highest amount of sub you've used?

Might just need to go back to spores if all else fails.

Highest amount of spawn to sub ratio was probably a 1:1 or 1:1.5. I got this idea from PGT'S video on how to S2B and he said just eyeball it. Looked like he barely used any sub at all so I did the same. I try to standardize my quarts of spawn and sub by measuring out 500g for each quart jar. I just made my first shoebox tonight of iceberg and decided to up the ratio to 1:2.75. Almost 1:3 but I wanted to leave space for fruiting. I've only ever used liquid culture. Don't have spores to go back to. Guess I'll have to learn agar.

So save the blobs during harvest and treat them like fruits. Should I remove everything all at once? Or remove anything close to a torn veil and leave pins to mature? Should I case again after harvest and soak?

Nats tend to be quite fast. The myc on the last two pics looks like some kind of mold

Fascinating plate. I don't see any obvious signs associated with molds but nor am I inclined to call it clean until I abducted a wedge for microscopy, largely because it appears with the same colony-in-colony morphology that I see with enmeshed contaminants sometimes, although not that often. Could easily just be the media too, charcoal causes things to behave strangely in my view.

Put it to a master and see what happens. If you see evidence of metabolic stress usually associated with bacteria then it probably contains a competing fungus or three. Same deal for morphology - often suspected impure cultures are easier to visualise on a 3d substrate in my experience.

Having a look at the plate series it came from doesn't hurt either. People often miss things like snowflakes of slow growing colonies on the periphery of the plate where spores are beginning to dislodge. Same deal with yellow discolouration on the colony from presumably somewhat inhibited sporulation.

Mold. Now figure out whether it's in uninoculated jars from improper sterilisation (or defective filters...) or whether it was in your inoculum. This is the exact kind of thing I was talking about in my post just above.

If you suspect it is in the inoculum then just trash everything from the germination to be honest, it's not worth trying to separate from vegetative mycelium and very often comes from the spores themselves.

Is this true that the Nats will eat the mold? Can i Spawn the Jar later?

I ask myself why the mold show up i do best i can the Agar Culture has looked clean maybe to much Agar pieces in the Jar i do half a dish maybe it was too long open ore maybe the filter with 2 layer tape was not enough next time i do 3 layers...

I have 2 King Jars i transfer the same day in a SAB

It competes aggressively against the mold, it doesn’t eat it. You would be spawning contaminated jars.

This lie about Nats eating mold has to stop.

People run with bs here way too much.

Conjecture gets taken as fact and everyone just agrees out of lack of knowledge.

Question the facts.

That's your choice, we're making it clear it's mold and Nats don't eat mold.
Moldy grains belong in the bin.

You can figure the rest out.
