I see nothing wrong with those fruits.

Pro tip:  If your mushrooms are fruiting, LEAVE IT THE FUCK ALONE.  Do not interrupt your mushrooms with your burning insecurity and need to take action.  I know it feels better to do SOMETHING, but most of the time what you need to do is nothing.

If you’re not sure what to do, then ask here before altering what you are doing.  Wait for advice from a TC.

Thanks for the reassurance! And for reminding me to not fiddle with things too much. Slight case of hyperfixation, probably will get easier, or finds something else. 🙃

I get it, I'm autistic and ADHD so I know a thing or two about hyper-fixation.  I only know about LIFTA because I've fucked up enough things by messing with it.  The way you can help deal with that is make more.  MORE.  More plates, more jars, more cultures, MOAR.

Spot on. I started with three jars, thought that hey I don’t really need to do more (and my little pot couldn’t handle more). As these were colonising I had to do something to keep the spark alive, now i have 6 more colonising. Probably have to prep some more. Only thing that’s keeping me in check are the eyes of my resident “minister of interior design” aka wife.

Good luck with that   it doesn’t.  Best bet is to start another project or 6

The temp reached inside the PC is what matters, and that is going to directly correspond to the pressure level.  Your burner setting isn't going to affect how "cooked" they get.  Most all of us start on the high end and drop it to around med-low to maintain pressure without burning off a bunch of the water level.

As long as your jars are up on the trivet and not in direct contact with the bottom, shouldn't matter at all.

Thank you! Do you know if a psi difference between 15 to 16 is enough to overcook small grains like millet?

My jars are overall coming out fine, but removing burst grains in millet and oats thus avoiding any pucking would be ideal.

Sounds like the grain could be too wet. Try shortening the steep/simmer/boil/soak and lengthen the drying time before pc.

:whathesaid:

If the grains are coming out burst then it's the prep and not the PSI.

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say, are you attempting to dig the burst grains out of the jar?  If so that will almost certainly introduce contamination.

No, I just want to confirm what could cause issues.

I follow Yoshi's no prep stuff, and have started measuring out the weight of both grains and the water. Seems to have helped quite a bit already.

I am not a fan of no prep.  I get that it works for some people, but I get perfect results every time with bird seed using a soak overnight, then strain, then pour boiling water into a pot not on a burner and soak for 30 mins, then drain and spread out to dry with a fan on them.  Once my grains are dry on the outside I jar em and PC.  Very rare is a single split grain.

I want to add an addendum to this that just because no prep/unmodded doesn't work for me doesn't mean it won't work for you.  I am merely stating a preference on those techniques. It does work for other people.  I just prefer more thorough measures.

We use that recipe for substrate in bags. Very little headspace, and only a small filter patch for gas exchange. You’re using it in an entirely different manner, so of course it’s not working out for you. You can’t pick and choose parts of a tek to follow. That ratio works for those mushrooms when grown in a bag. Different fruiting conditions may require a different starting point.

That's total makes sense can i save my tube? I think about to spray ever 2 Day's and mist it so it sucks up by the sawdust?

Next time i need too go up with water ratio damn i forgot the condition I spray inside and thought it is enough

My questions got buried but I'm still hopeful someone can help me out. I'm doing small trays in a tub to practice for a full on monotub. What are these formations? Are they blobs? Is this normal? What can I do to prevent this from happening? Happened on my first dish I made and the next flushes were normal. Strains are Jedi Mind Fuck and Iceberg.

These are a few days old and they're bigger and tumerous with some weird malformations. Double stem single cap and other weird stuff. On the JMF mostly. I'll post more current pictures later.

QQ: Would adding an appropriate amount of citric acid while making shroom capsules have the same effect as making tea with citric acid? Or would the fact that your body is getting all of it at the same time make this a dumb question?

Stinkyfingers, blobs happen, mostly a genetics thing, plus i think environmental stressors. Second one seems iffy, does it smell sweet like rotting fruit?

Klarn, I wouldn't do that, because the citric acid would change the psilocybin to psilocin through exposure. Not sure what that will do inside of the capsule, but I think it more likely to loose potency vs gain something but Im not sure.

That is what I've been wondering. I can't help but think that reaction might be slowed down / negated by the fact that everything in there is dry. I guess it would probably be no bueno for long term storage, but now I feel the need to test this, even if I just make a few caps when it's time to consume them. Thank you for your input!

No, next time you need to pick a TEK and follow it to the letter.  You were just told this is not an appropriate recipe for a tub.

No sweet rotting fruit smell. I'm trying to understand the environmental stressors. My goal is to have these trays dialed in with canopies before committing to a monotub. I don't think JMF blobs due to genetics as far as I know. From what I've gathered through the search engine, it's mostly PE or something like Lysol or iso spray landing on the substrate. They didn't blob on my cakes at least. I did find a few people saying that if your spawn to sub ratio is too high, blobbing can happen but there was very little information on this. I did use about a 1:1 maybe even a 1:.9. I also saved some spawn and added a single sprinkled layer of spawn over the already mixed spawn and sub before adding a pseudo casing or covering. Should i have cased again after the surface was 100% colonized?
