Having this issue again on some new trays I made. Is this blobbing? Strain is JMF and the other is Iceberg. The JMF did this on my first run. First flush was a bunch of mutants but was normal after that. I'm trying to pinpoint the cause of this symptom. These bubbles form and then pins erupt from them but they're disfigured or something. I'll have to see once they fruit for real. Some pins look good but that mass is weird. I just added some bubble wrap as a casing a few days ago because I can't seem to maintain those droplets on the surface. It helped fill in some of the bare spots on the Iceberg fairly quick. Perhaps I'm casing wrong? I add a thin "covering" after mixing S2B, but that always seems to colonize through. Am I supposed to case again? I see alot of tubs with what I assume is an uncolonized casing because it was cased later after surface was colonized?

Here's the Iceberg tray but I think this is pretty typical for that strain? First time running it.

If your spawn is fully colonized and youre using coir, you can just spawn in open air.

Only times I know of where you'd spawn in sterile conditions are when you're spawning to a sterilized substrate

Open air as in I can spawn outdoors if I wanted to? So leaving the AC on is no problem

Sure
Mushboy has a pic of his bare ass over a sub somewhere around here

There's nothing sterile about spawning to bulk assuming it's not a sterilized substrate

If you enlarge the top picture and look at the center it’s already green.

I have a ceiling vent a similar distance from my FFU and I never worry about whether the furnace or AC is on. It would take a hell of a strong current to make turbulent air a few inches from the filter.

You don't need to spawn to bulk in sterile conditions unless your bulk substrate is sterilized (and even then probably not unless it's also more nutritious than straight coir). Probably less non-sterile air blowing around is better if you have run into mold problems in the past, but I only use the FFU if I'm inoculating supplemented bags. Once I lost a bunch of shoeboxes at once to trichoderma, but I also had done a shit job cleaning the them first (they had been sitting in the garage since I last dumped them, and there was definitely mold in some of them). I wouldn't personally worry about AC running for spawning to coir.

APE harvest

Inside of mushrooms coming up pink. Anyone else ever see this? Is this okay?

This round of APE has been a little different. Felt like my substrate was a little drier than I like when I spawned but was technically field capacity.

Spawned to a monotub. No casing. Room temps steady 72-75. Rh 44%.

Pinset was spot on. First fruits were looking fuzzy so I increased FAE by moving the lid a bit to expose the corners.

Fruits came in even and strong, but started to stall. I felt a few and the fruit felt light and hollow, so I decided to pull it. When I started to harvest, the fruits were a light pink in the middle.

There was a ton of immature fruit in the tub, my wet weight was only 1,272g.

I've never seen pink flesh when harvesting. Is this OK?

Damn it!! Ok could this be caused from too much heat? Or contamination from the substrate?

It could be contamination. Spawn was suspect, but I've taken questionable spawn to bulk and still got a solid flush before.

I've only grown APE once before. Same genetics and setup/parameters. In my last grow, the fruit was firmer/denser but I got two flushes that weighed the same is this one flush. I wouldn't have thought anything of the lighter fruits this run because my substrate was a bit on the dry side, but the pink caught my attention.

Hi all I could really do with some advice. I’m deep into my first attempt at growing and I’m literally a few days away from pinning. However, I’ve noticed some strange things with my substrate. I have a fuzzy white thing growing and what looks like a small patch of green tinge. I could be overreacting here, but is this contam? Obviously this is my first grow and I need to hone my skills a bit but considering I made it this late, it’s disappointing to see.

Hey guys , anyone has had any experience with yeast smell in their spawned bulk? I think the alcohol smell means yeast but I see some contradicting info on old threads. Some say they could still fruit while others say to yeet it to the sun. I'm just waiting on my newer jars to colonize so I don't mind leaving these shoeboxes until they fruit or stall

That is soooooo dry. What you think is green could be bruising from it being so dry. Hard to tell on the fuzzy stuff, your surface is kind of a mess making it difficult to distinguish.

Give it a mist and reduce FAE by sealing the lid or taping up some holes, whatever works for your tub design. In the future, after you spawn, flatten out and compress your substrate. It’s ok to touch it.  Keeping your surface nice and flat will make it mich easier to see if things are not as they should be.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll mist it shortly and reduce FAE. I’m still experimenting and I have a fan in my room been leaving it on for a few hours a day. It must have overdone it. I’ll turn it off, too.

I'm having a hard time sourcing quality mason jars where I live. Only brand name jars is from Le Parfait. They have a 2-piece lid, but no ring. Is there any way to even use this jars?
