what do you mean middle way?

my small brain didn't comprehend what you meant   care to explain?

--------------------
Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

if so wouldn't that just shut down every belief system we've got then?

We should stop listening to others unsubstantiated beliefs as if they may have the answer and giving our power away to any "experts".

I mean that not all beliefs are bad. Some fulfill one's life. The other extreme is to let them consume you. That does not mean that religious beliefs as a whole should be jettisoned. The middle way is the path to righteousness and enlightenment in all things. Moderation is the key.

Moderation in all things.
Especially moderation.

I only adhere to my own "unsubstantiated beliefs" and I keep my personal power.

Isn't moderation in moderation an argument for extremism?

I was wondering if someone would see that paradox. I guess what I was saying was a way of encoding or allowing for the operation of an enlightened mind within that statement. It was an attempt to put something into words that cannot be put into words.

If someone can express it more elegantly than I have, have at it.
As for me, another rendevous with the snarks..

aren't all beliefs unsubstantiated as none of them are rooted in fact at all???

what about reading the system, if you agree with it, take it with you, if not discard it. do you see anything positive with regards to the 4th dimension belifs?

are you hinting towards acceptence?

or just taking what fits you and discarding the rest?

I simply mean that while you may need water to live, immersing yourself in it totally will cause drowning. One should always analyze beliefs and adopt those that enhance, not destroy life.

Swami, you are talking about a few cults, which are a minority in our lives. Most people who have spiritual beliefs don't believe in the crap of which you are writing. You can't take the beliefs of a few and extrapolate them to the general populace. Please.

Swami is merely establishing a connection between suicide cults and doomsday prophecies. It is a valid connection.
