The biggest ones haven't grown much in the last 24-36 hours, but the stipe is still really hard.  I figure if they are about the same size tomorrow morning I might pluck the big guys.

First APE grow so I'm not sure what to expect out of them yet.

Hey guys I am about to pop off 24 half pint jars in my PC tomorrow and inoculate PF tek method with some LC for consistent growths which is cool. One day I'll get into Agar but today is not the day.
I have had wild success with water tub tek in the past but realized lately I am not sure I'll have enough room to water tub 24 jars.

So I'm going to break some jars up to spawn some coir tubs for the first time which is exciting!

Could I spawn 3 PF tek jars that have 3 different cube myceliums, and then have a tub that fruits all 3 of these 3 cubes varieties at once? Or would the different cube myceliums compete with one another? I feel like they could be harmonious and loving towards one another and potentially create hypothetically some sort of super cube that would give way to some sort of super power of some sort and evolve the human race.

I wouldnt break up pf tek jars for spawning. They already have all the nutrients and moisture they need.

Yes but hypothetically if I don't have room to fruit them my friend. I could spawn a small shoebox and wait for it to colonize

It would be fine, but the larger takeaway is don’t crumble them.

Put as many as you can fit in the bottom of a shoebox and then top them with a couple of inches of compacted coir. They’ll fruit normally and you don’t have to risk contamination.

Generally the mushrooms would compete and you would end up with smaller than expected mushrooms. Some crosses might occur but you would expect lower yields. If you want to make the most of them, I would follow Smelly's advice.

Spawn bags are just beginning to pin. Theres a small pool of very clear to slightly yellow water sitting at the bottom. Imagine very diluted tea, is this contam? Should I drain this?

I just wanted to send you a few pictures of a grain bag that I have and get your opinion on it please. I'm ready to spawn this bag to bulk but I am unsure about this one little spot. I've been waiting and waiting for a few days now and it doesn't seem to be colonizing.

I'm wondering if it is wet rot? It's such a small little spot and it doesn't seem slimy or super wet or anything like that. I don't really see any metabolites or anything.

I'm wondering if it is wet rot, can I still spawn it to bulk? And if so how would I do so? Would I move forward as usual or would I need to remove that little bit of uncolonized grain? 
  Also please let me know if you see any other issues in general with it? Is it ready to be put to bulk other than that one little spot? Does the colonization look healty/complete?  I inoculated it with PE  lc. 
  I notices some sides look "spotty or patchy"  like instead of just a wall of white in some areas you can see spots of millet in between the mycelium.  Does everything look right here? It is so hard to tell without actually opening the bag and getting a good whiff of it. Which I am about ready to do if that little spot doesn't colonize in the next day or two.

Please get back to me and let me know what you think thank you so much for your help. I. Extremely new to this hobby.

Ps. The very last picture shows that the spot was a lot bigger and the progression of the actual growth of the mycelain was from all of the outer edges into the center. It just seems to have stopped once it's got into that very small little spot that's left..  *to be clear both of the pictures with the spot circled in yellow are the exact same bag and the exact same spot just about 4 days apart from each other*

It looks like normal progression of colonizing to me. Is that opposite the side you injected and did you never break up the bag?

I have a hard time reading grain bags because I have rarely used them (and only before I had any clue what I was doing). I can't tell if it looks shiny just because it's surrounded by a thin layer of plastic or because it's a little bacterial. Hopefully someone with a keener eye for spawn bsgs can say something about the health of the bag as a whole.

But assuming you didn't shake the bag after it had colonized a bit, I wouldn't find it strange for there to be one last section far from the inoculation spot that took a few extra days. I see that even in jars that have been shaken sometimes, if I don't distribute the grains well.

If you don't mind risking the opening of the jar in your sab then it's worth a try but you can also just accept the slow speed and wait for it to finish although that can take ages.



I have open the Jar lid yesterday evening after your recommendation so and it looks great today very nice and very fast too in that short time.

How much days left when i can Bulk them? :smile:

My grow room ambient temps hit 82f today (27.9c). We are coming into spring and things are getting hot.

I moved everything to a different room, you can see the temp drop in the photo.

I have
2x ape jars @90% colonised
2x gt shoeboxes, did grain to spawn 48 hours ago, 1 or 2 colonized spots on the casing layer. Sub = 80% coir, 20% verm. Below field capacity.

I know it's impossible to know but I'm so concerned I've encouraged contam. It's my first grow, am I most likely going to be OK? These fuckin jars got me worried like my baby's in danger

Today's hot temps:

I was told my gt spawn looked really good, not sure if that helps minimise potential bacteria chance
