I really never had a weak crop,
but honestly i don´t make brains about.
I always dose around 40-50gr fresh for tea and was never disappointed.
I also don´t dry anymore, i make tea immediately and store in the freezer.
Growing temps here are always 17-19°C, so a bit on the lower side,
therefore a bit slower.
In my opinion that leads to thicker and meatier stems/fruits,
that´s why i think PE´s are more potent due to longer fruiting times.
In the end it´s all genetics :wink:

Making fresh tea and freezing the leftovers? That sounds like a really interesting idea... How long do they keep in the freezer?
I've been wanting to try dosing fresh but cannot stomach the idea of physically eating 20-40g. I'm assuming you dose at ~10x dry? Any particular method?

He is saying he stores the tea in the freezer.  Not fruitbodies.

Spawn is not supposed to look wet.


Drippy corn doesn't come out looking any wetter than normal. All it is during the pasteurization stage for the corn you just throw in a shot glass or so of corn syrup. When the corn comes out it's just infused with corn syrup, not any extra wet really at all since one shot glass of syrup is not enough to turn a pound or two of corn to wetness.

It's been popularized by the latest round of YouTube Mushroom growers like phillygoldenteacher and 90 second mycology and rookie mycologist. And all of them are sharing recipes with one another so once in spreads with them tons of lesser mushroom channels pick it up. This is how misleading teks get spread around in the modern age.

All that said, I did try drippy corn for myself. It did colonize fastest in the jar, and was my fastest bin to fruit and harvest.  But my yields weren't super impressive or anything.  I've switched to WBS and occasional pf Tek work.

Possibly unlimited.
I accidently forgot about some ice cubes i made from a batch in 2012.
Found them last year, and nailed me on the floor :wink:

Fresh is always way more intense if you follow that formula.
Have to say that 50gr is a big dose, but you need to find your threshold first.
You don´t want to stay one foot in reality while the other is in the hands of cubensis.
That´s what many people will consider a bad trip.
Better stay above that threshold and feel free.
So if you´re used to 3gr dry, i´d start with 20gr fresh and tweak from there.
This 10% formula is more about the water content you lose from fresh into dry.
Another advantage of tea is the perfect distributed potency.

unless you want to eat a soup, looking like a pile of pus after unfreezing :biggrin:

I aim to just do a definitive side by side like millet vs drippy corn or hell even corn vs drippy corn. Gotta dispel the myth that it’s anything other than a stick in the spokes.


Do it but there is already one on YouTube that PGT did. Damn drippy corn smoked all the other spawns. Didn’t quite produced as well once pitched to sub.

From what I remember of that video, most jars stalled. Not exactly a good proof of concept.

Thanks a ton for that! I’ll stay the course for now knowing that I have room to grow. I did the drip corn since it seemed pretty user friendly for new guys like myself. No real complaints so far. I’ll check out some wbs teks for next go around.

How much weight comparable to first flush did you get on second and third flush? Like say for example I'd harvested 400 grams fresh. Then I turn around and soak the cake for several hours and then put it back in fruiting conditions. Do you usually get equivalent second flushes, smaller second flushes, or is it a total crapshoot with no predictable windowed outcome?

Also is there any test I can buy that informs me how potent a certain shroom is?

Also I've been buying "professional grade" vermiculite, but there is course grade, fine grade, does this impact usage in mushroom grows? Like is there a particular grade of vermiculite I should be shooting for? Almost time to spawn to bulk my KSSS grow...

Wild birdseed.
It’s cheaper. I literally just set it for 24 hours drain it and then fill Jars for pressure cookers
I mean, I don’t even need to dry the grains if I don’t want to.

I'm inoculating with agar for the first time. Poured my ketchup cups pretty thick and plan on just throwing one cup per jar.

Does it matter at all to have a big chunk of agar in your grainspawn? Does it just
eventually go into the bulk too? Doesn't seem like it would disrupt anything but wanted to ask.

You can put in a tiny piece of agar and it'll colonize, but it would take longer, which is more of a risk of contamination. The more agar you put the faster it'll colonize. I usually put half of a 90mm agar dish into 1 quart jar. Some people put the whole dish, some 1/4th, etc. It's up to you.

And yes, you can put the agar pieces into the sub when you spawn to bulk.

I use a tiny 1" x 1" x 1" triangular piece and always make sure to find it and remove it while spawning. Ive never heard anyone recommend it and im probably the only one that does it. Its older than anything else in the spawn and i just am ocd and imagining it breaking and an uncolonized part of agar being exposed to unsterilized conditions really makes me nervous and unsettled and ascared. So, I always make sure to remove it.

I have a set of pf jars that are almost ready to birth. Going to do Matejas water tub and have both verm and coir on hand so I’m going to “roll” half of the jars in verm and half in coir as an experiment.

Question: does the coir need to be pasteurized in boiling water in a bucket or is okay to just hydrate it so it sticks. I saw differing opinions in Mateja’s original thread - he even said both yes and no to that. Guessing best practice is bucket tek but could get away without doing it? Would rather keep it as simple as possible.

But if you're do bucket Tek, you should still add boiling water to pasteurize the CVG mix due to the gypsum right?
