Definitely not trichoderma; I don't think there is any mold of any sort. Get some other opinions, but as far as I can see through that lid, you have a healthy germination plate. Take a few transfers - you can do 2 or 3 per donor plate if you want to conserve plates while having more to choose from.

Yeah looks like diverse young cube myc.

I tried to take on board the very valid criticisms of my previous pictures and improve, but I still think they're not ideal.  Really messed with lighting and phone settings but I guess my resources (and brain) are limited.  Hope this is a little better and has a little more clarity.  Probably just a bunch of trich, although these are about 12 days at approx 21c and none of them are showing green so maybe not?

Again, thanks for the replies, thoughts and time you've given me.  Cheers.

These are germination plates, and 12 days old :facepalm3:

I thought these were first transfers, and I was seeing satellite colonies.

Sorry my man, I didn't mean to freak you out.

The growth will look more organised with transfers.

Still not great but much better.

These 2 spots look good. Don't transfer the whole area I marked. Just small slices at the edge of the myc growth.

They're at likely more spots to transfer. My eyes are getting old but I can see those 2 breakout spots. You want to look for the germination points and go for the mycelium that is growing fastest away from it. Any growth that turns rhizo get that as well. Here is the germination point of one section I marked and an outline of the myc growing away from it.

Can't thank you enough for the time you took to mark this out for me and provide this info!

If I may trouble you again, is the germination point the point at which the spores from the syringe first began forming hyphae and exapnding outwards?  Is the growth moving fastest away from it therefore 'stronger' or 'mature' or somesuch?  Just trying to understand the process more deeply.  Currently reading "an entangled life" and it's all so interesting!

Thanks everyone for helping me out, going to make some plates up tonight and make some transfers.  Appreciate you all.

No worries at all man!  Appreciate you giving your input and trying to steer me right!  Now I'm keen to make up some new plates and see how the transfers start to look.

PE germ plate. This would be the first I've had anything on a germ plate that wasn't obviously a contaminate, but something seems off about it. Im considering the possibility that the first growth from germination may just look kinda funny, but idk...it doesnt sit right with me. Sorry for the crappy pic - it was a chore just to snap one this good, due to the condensation.

It doesn't look scary to me yet. Nothing to do but give it a bit more time.

Used these autoclavable plastic plates as regular pours last night instead of following my prepour tek. Looks like they went well. All the advantages of plastic, but reusable.

I ran plates that had been used, rinsed and wiped dry through a PC cycle in the Instant Pot inside of glass jars with foil over top. Only the top plates had a slight bit of condensation, to my surprise. After a day to dry completely on a shelf with the foil cover, I prepped some agar and poured them like any other plates.

I trust my work, but I will give these a week to check for contams since this is the first run this way. So far so good.

From my limited experience germinating on agar I think those are spots where multiple spores germinate and start outward growth. It could be a spot where spores germinate in competition with contamination and overtake and out run it. I always see growth from those spots tho.

You can sometimes follow different sectors back to those spots as in the yellow highlighted pic. Look for the leading edge of the growth from those.

This tight rhizo looks right and like many that I had, I'd transfer or send from this.

Got some slants getting their lean on and once they are cooled, I'll start archiving stuff.  I went ahead and poured another stack of plates while I was making agar since it'll get used in short order.

For those slant tubes, should I leave the lids slightly cracked for GE and wrap them with parafilm or just cinch them down tight and not worry about any air?

Those are all the same species?

Top center looks like Weraroa.

Looks like some Subtropicalis, Semilanceata, Caerulescens.

All the same or a game to be each pic?

No those are just images in my sig, I was asking Dkeppel what species he had on agar in his image.

oof..
reminds me I gotta buy slants

I did grab a couple dozen of the portion cups and poured half. I think they save plates for growing out the cuts.

I think I got some Great genetics this time. These plates are exactly 7 days old from transfer.
What i did was use A set of tweezers to only pick up the mycelium I wanted to transfer
People that take wedges of agar as a transfer, pick up the risk of transferring bacteria and all kinds of nasty crap with it
If you are only picking the mycelium off the top of a plate, you’re a lot more likely to get great transfers

I can't comment on the mycelium but if you want to get rid of the condensation for future pictures, all you have to do is place a flat container with some warm/hot water in it on the plate for a few minutes. The plate should clear right up.
