I got some of these: "AirPort" Lids for LC and Grain Spawn

Quote:

These reusable “airport” lids are designed to keep contaminants out of your liquid culture or grain spawn, while allowing for adequate gas exchange.  Equipped with  super heavy duty injection ports, 0.22 µm syringe filters (13 mm diameter), and rust-proof stainless steel canning bands, these lids can be re-used for years.

---

But then I did some research and found several posts saying that syringe filters aren't enough for grain spawn.

Will they work or do I have to return them?

Whats the best way to top fruit a single bacterial quart of spawn? I rubberbanded a gal ziplock over the top and punched a few holes in it, but there was no condensation build up after about 12 hours, so I abandoned that idea and put the lid back on until I came up with a better plan. Cased with about an inch of coir as well. Ive seen the teks, but putting it in a tub is going to make it more difficult, without multiple jars helping to create a climate, right?

A Shoebox is the perfect tub for fruiting questionable spawn. 1qt spawn to 2 qts coir with maybe another 1/2 qt coir as a pseudo case to cover any exposed grains.

My favorite Shoebox TEK

What temperature was the jar when you removed it?

---

Too hot to touch with bare hands.

---

The jar is pulling air in as the internal temp cools. It’s whistling. Why didn’t you let the PC cool with the jars inside? You can break jars that are that hot putting them on a cool surface due to thermal shock.

---

But he didn't know? that's the reason it didn't blow

To tell you the truth I actually can't believe it didn't. the wonders of physics.
I had a gallon come apart in my hands once, but it wasnt whistling or id have been afraid of it

Sorry, carry on

Do you place your shoebox in a monotub or simply play with the lid?
