Quick Question on Pressure cooking Popcorn
    #2559860 - 04/14/04 04:55 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Just a quick question. in the popcorn tek it says to boil the corn and all that, did it. Then it says drain the popcorn for a long time. Did that. My question is do I pressure cook the jars without the popcorn in them to sterilize it, or does it do that all together in the pressure cooker? Reason Im asking is Im waiting on a friend to come with a pressure cooker and I want to get as much done before he gets here. Help a newbie please!

sterilize with popcorn in the jars, flip lids upside down so you don't can them either.

I would put the pre-cooked and drained corn in to the jars and then sterilize in the cooker.
Below is how we make our corn bags: (jars can be made in a similar manor)

Corn bag

Let?s make 10 bags as follows
Weigh out 10 pounds and put in pot. Put pot on outside burner. Add enough water to cover the grain by 3 inches. Heat to simmer and turn off heat. Let soak until next morning.

Drain. If it is slimy it will need to be rinsed and drained again before loading in bags.
1 pound per bag pressure cook like other product.
