Haven't been keeping up. Will be able to start growing again in a month or so. Is there a consensus on how long exotics prints (semp, pans) last vs cube prints?

Not to my knowledge. Spores of any sp. should be good for many years and even longer probably.

Has anyone put these in a PC yet? Thinking of using them for small bottle tek grows to use up some leftover LC. They're pp5 so they might be okay?

I have used these a few times. They pc fine. I put a hole in the lid and used polyfil or micropore.

The clear plastic holds a lot of condensation so visibility is low, but other than that they work great.

I think they have better threading than the ziploc brand.

Going to be buying more grain for spawn this week...

I usually get just rye for my cubes/nats/gourmets but I'm going to be growing out pans as well this time around.

I've seen some people on here say whole oats are better for pans(specifically grass-lovers like Pan bispo), should I get oats as well or will rye be ok for the pans too?

Took a transfer from this. It turned teal later. Think it will be okay? Or is that enmeshed mold?

Asking this again because this seems to happen to a lot of my spore germination cultures. Does it changing colour like this mean it's mold/ruined?

I did transfer it, and others, but want to know if what I transferred is mold.

Not an expert, but kind of looks like blueing.  Have you thought of transferring to water agar/pfpuck/sandwich agar?

I have a bunch of mushrooms in a dehydrator right now but I am about ready to go to sleep. I don't want to wake up to them being over dehydrated or burnt.
Can I turn the dehydrator off for now and leave them in there overnight?

What would cause the sub to not be fully colonized?

The top was I'd say 90-95% white, but there were some spots of brown still.

Is that normal?

You can't overdry. Everyone dries during sleep, since the recommended drying time is 24h. Sleep tight

I think you're good. Just wait it out. Unless there are weird smells or colors on you're substrate.

Bacteria, the myc fighting something downstairs, too wet, too dry... some cultures also rock like that, melmac is one of them: starts pushing fruit before the surface is 100%

Yea 24 hours is the norm but I got a new dehydrator and this one dehydrates them real fast for some reason. They are damn near ready to take out the dehydrator and it hasn't even been 12 hours. I would wait but it is late out here and I got a bunch of shit to do tomorrow. What do you think is best? Lower the temp or just turn it off and turn it back on first thing in the morning? I know you said to not worry and just sleep tight, but I just wanna make sure again lol

dude, you can't overdry
You will regret drying for just 12h, trust me and mold.
Leave the machine at 70C and go to sleep relaxed

That makes sense, as I have noticed some fuzzy on top of the brown now.  I knew the jars weren't the best but I sent em anyway.

Thanks for the info.

Just did my first ever inoculation (PF Tek) in SAB. I think I did everything cleanly and correctly - the only minor flaw was injecting a little too much LC into the first few jars (out of 12 jars). I course corrected halfway through and ended up running out of LC so was only able to inoculate 11 jars.

Should I be concerned about anything with the too much LC? I only had one spore syringe so it was probably only 1 - 1.5 cc per jar at first so nothing crazy, but I’m a noob any want my babies to colonize nicely.

Also, anything I can do with the 12th jar that wasn’t noc’d? How long will it be sterile for?

You're good
Those first jars will just colonise faster than the others, so your "minor flaw" was on the remaining jars
"How long will it be sterile for?" in theory, indefinitely... just impregnate it ASAP with spores, LC or LI

Got it thanks. How much does humidity matter during colonization? Couldn’t find much info on that. Currently sitting at 50-60% after the temp stabilized around 78 F. It’s pretty humid where I am this week though.

Humidity doesn't matter at colonization.

Bluing? Like from bruising? The blue spot also isn't where I took the wedge from, so I wonder why it's bruising
