and as for drawings, well the whole modern image of the little gray man came from descriptions of those who claim to be obducted. You probably know the sterotype very well.

Since in the Bible, there is more than one entity mentioned (lucifer and father) the question can be asked, who are they, lucifer or Elohim? Seems that these two had a disagreement about how to rase humanity (like parents that have a fight) Lucifer wanted us to grow for ourselfs, and Elohim wanted us to serve and live in nature.


I know how farfetched all this may seem to you, but you must grant me one thing: at least it is a more scientifically possible explanation (it all works, and follows physical laws, nothing supernatural about it) for the religious texts than the current theological interpretations that absolutley have no scientific basis.

Aliens smart enough to travel faster than light would be smart enough to solve this problem. Here a few solutions I can think of off the top of my head:

1. Discreetly contact the White House (Kremlin, whatever) to set up the meeting. What president would turn down the opportunity to make the most significant piece of history since the dawn of mankind? The White House would then prep the public with an amazing press release.

2. They could discreetly contact CNN and they could warn the White House and the public, followed by a landing in the Mojave Desert (so as not to alarm the White House)

3. They could contact a group of prominent scientists, say at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton (this is where all the cutting edge work on String Theory is taking place) and have the scientists arrange the landing.

Don't you see that a little thought solves the problem of first contact easily, and renders your argument that these aliens are reluctant to meet us for fear of chaos defeated?

They have no reason not to make contact that I can see. If they have some reason I cannot see, then they are making a lot of mistakes getting caught on film so often for such an advanced species.

This does not makes sense. Are you so emotionally vested in alien visitation that you cannot look with an open mind at your argument and see the glaring holes?

Since in the Bible

The bible is a motley collection of stories, often directly contradicting each other. Why do you give it so much weight?

Why hasn't anyone who claims abduction ever come back with physical proof? Something like a microbe on their body or clothes that does not contain DNA?

By the way, I still don't understand what drawings you're referring to unless you mean those made by supposed abductees (who don't have any other proof besides their word).

Why did you start asking me to prove alien existence, I'm trying to defend this theory, not the theory about existence of aliens.

You seem to have began questioning the assumptions on top of which this theory works. That kind of negates the whole point of me saying "if we assume"

Woody, you just don't get it.

We can assume anything you want, but if I show that the foundation of the assumption is untrue, then all our discussion is reduced to fantasy. That makes it a topic for the Pub, not here. I have no interest in debating fantasy.

If I show through logic that it is very unlikely we've ever been visited by aliens, then why bother discussing hypothetical alien influences on the bible? It's more productive to back up a step and debate alien visitation before debating alien influence on Earth which is dependent on alien visitation being true in the first place.

If you can't follow the rules of logic, then I can't debate with you. :confused:

Look around, mysticism, bodyless consciousness, strange dimensions of reality that you enter with acid... it's all fantasy until proven otherwise

my rules of logic are very simple: there are premises and there are conclusions, the rest is playing with logic, probability etc etc

The difference between me and you is that you take you seem to be less flexible with your premises. This is a dicsussion, it is like a courtroom, it doesn't really matter what is truth, the playing along is what matters. It's a sport

nobody ever claimed peter pan to be real, but many claim aliens to be real, which is where all the controversy comes from, so they deserve a honest discussion

logically deconstructing the UFO phenomenon and its connection to aliens will not bring you any closer to the truth, it will only determine what is more likely and what is less likely.

every probability has two components, one is that absolute probability that everyone keeps using, but there is always a realtive probability which is always 1:1

If a comet has 1: 10000000 chance to hit earth, that doesn't mean it wont, all that number tells us is how sure can we be that it will or will not. But in the end, it might and it might not regardless of what we think (the relative 1:1)

Same goes for aliens. Logic can lead you to that absolute probability, which does not tell you what is and what is not, it just tells you how probable something is.

If they did found all of today's religions, that doesn't necessarily mean they were ever fully accessable to the public. Maybe they only made contact with a few, namely the well-known prophets like Moses, Jesus and Mohammed.

It certainly would fill a few logic gaps if some of the phenomenons refered to as 'miracles' might have been displays of advanced alien technology.

It's true that the bible might be a collection of motley, contradictive stories, but that doesn't mean that all of these stories are untrue, even if some of them happen to be. And a good portion of the world's population give the book a great deal of weight.. many probably more than they should.. but that doesn't mean that they are all necessarily unjustified.

As far as why these aliens haven't revealed themselves (if they do exist).. I'm sure they would have their reasons. Maybe they were (or are) waiting for us to advance our knowledge and technology enough to understand what they want to tell us. Maybe they are just here to observe and study us, and keep their contact limited as not to disrupt our natural progression. Then again, maybe they already have made contact with a select few, or a certain group, who have decided for some reason or other to keep this information confidential.

I'm not saying I believe any of this stuff.. but it doesn't hurt to speculate.

Alright, let's speculate.

Aliens either want to make contact with Earth or they do not.

If they do, then why the delay; if they do not then why all the mistakes of accidentally getting caught on film, crashes in Roswell, and alien bodies in Area-61?

Are these creature who are so advanced as to have FTL travel also so stupid as to be making all these mistakes?

This does not make sense; I don't buy anything that doesn't make sense.

Why the delay..? That's a hard question to answer without knowing their agenda. Perhaps they're waiting for the right astrological alignment. Or, like I said, maybe they're waiting for us to advance a bit more.

If they don't want to contact us.. well, those events could seem like mistakes, particularly the Roswell crash. But then again, maybe they aren't. Since it's hard to know which of these incidents were fabricated and which (if any) were real, it makes it hard to guess. But maybe they're giving us a 'heads up' so to speak, to help prepare us for when they do reveal themselves.

Then again, maybe they don't care if we catch a glimpse of them once in a while. It hasn't seemed to have caused anything more than a whole lot of conjecturing so far, as far as I can see.

You're rationalizing and accommodating everything into convoluted and highly-improbably explanations rather than accepting the simpler and more likely explanation that we are not being visited and that all the people who claim we are fall into the same category as those who claim a rust stain on the glass facade of a central Florida building is actually the Virgin Marry.

Highly improbable, yes.  Like I said, I never said I believe any of this.. I'm just playing with ideas, not trying to convince you or anyone else of anything. 

It may be simpler to say that we're not being 'visited', and I certainly do accept that explanation to be a possibility; personally, though, I find it difficult to completely discount all of the sightings as fabrications, simply due to the sheer number of such accounts.  Of course, I know that there are plenty of hoaxes out there as well, which makes it all that much more obscure, but it seems highly unlikely to me that all of this speculation is just an immensely obsessive delusion...

...Then again.. maybe I am putting too much faith in the human race.  :smirk:
