It's not a pipe dream. The rest of the developed world all have universal healthcare. Cuba has healthcare.

Shitlib voters make it "impossible".

And why is it a pipe dream, when Bernie says it, but not when Clinton does? Lmao

He didn't say anything about universal healthcare.  He said eliminating private health insurance is a pipe dream

Oh, right. Nobody is trying to do that, or ever was.

The same things as Hillary except that he also actually co-sponsored a bill to address the issue, something she wouldn't be able to do for another 7 years or so and that she failed to do her during legislative career once she had the ability.

Sanders co sponsored  a bill in 1993 called the American health care security act  that attempted to do just that .
It would have made the federal govt solely responsible for collecting and administering  all funds .

That's not true

Quote:
Specifies that: (1) no deductibles, coinsurance, or copayments may be charged for acute care benefits; (2) no provider may charge a patient for covered services; (3) no private insurance may duplicate program benefits; and (4) States and employers may provide additional benefits at their own expense.

The italicized text clearly states that private insurance can still cover procedures, etc. not covered under the bill and that states and employers are free to pay for additional benefits.
Source.

It says states and employers may provide additional benefits at their own expense .  Like the 2500  year I get for dental that has nothing to do with my Kaiser coverage .
Bernie's plan in 93 and 16 would have created a govt monopoly over healthcare but unlike a private monopoly this one would have the coercive power of the law .
It just wouldn't be possible for them exist.

It says private insurers can't duplicate benefits covered under the program.  Anything not covered already is fair game.  That doesn't sound like the abolition of private insurance to me.  States and employers could pay for additional benefits if they want or if your union negotiated for said additional benefits.  Again, it doesn't specify dental or vision (which are covered under the bill) but simply "additional benefits" which, again, means anything not already covered.

Also, Kaiser's hospitals would be considered a provider under that bill and would simply be paid by the government instead of walking you from desk to desk for your copays.  The big difference is they don't get to keep 30% of the dough for administrative costs (profits).  Instead the government would keep 3% for the actual administrative costs.

I dont think you understand what that term means and the effect it will have .  That  term will allow the govt  to fine insurance providers attempting to provide service to  people who have the means that don't want to wait on the public option .  They have the same thing in BC  but didn't enforce it for a long time .

Quote:
For the last 20 years, the [BC] Government did not enforce the impugned provisions and turned a blind eye to the operation in BC of private clinics such as Cambie Surgeries Corporation. It cited the long wait times and the excess surgical capacity physicians had available as justification for non-enforcement. Consequently, British Columbians with the ability to pay have had access to private surgeries over the last two decades.

However, in 2018, the Government reversed course and began fining physicians who operated in dual public-private practice. It targeted physicians who provided publicly-available health care services privately at a cost.

Maybe wait times will come down now that surgeons aren't shunting patients into their private practices

Wow... How very Republican of you. You would rather have shorter wait times for rich people, than healthcare for everyone.

There's a reason the rest of the world sees it our way

What if you democratized medicine, so that the only qualification for having a practice was your success rate.

And, maximum success at a minimum price was the most competitive.

If it works, it works.

If it fails, tar and feathers.

Market controls are a barrier to entry for people disadvantaged by the system.

Direct democracy is one theoretical solution to fraud.

That's what he was saying.  No licensing requirements to run a medical practice.  Just let the market sort the good doctors from the charlatans.

SWIM was administered something that we affectionately called "glow juice", under the "right to try" and it worked, though. A lab rat, under informed consent. Nobody forced participation.
