What’s your favorite martial art?
    #28574600 -

I have a deep respect for the martial artist. Someone who has trained their body and mind. Everyone should know how to defend themselves.

I know karate but I’m thinking of going back and learning another skill set. I like the sounds of Krav Maga or tae kwon do.
Do you do any martial arts?
Feel free to also discuss stories of martial artists.

What’s your favorite style?

What you’re describing is called a Dojoyaburi.
Or dojo Buster. Someone who would challenge everyone in a competing school and force them to close it after they admit that their martial style was better.

I adore Muay Thai because of its leg-dominance.

Legs as the default flail, it speaks to me.

I'd love to hold the pads for a muay thai fighter to unleash his fury on. At 51 and so obese the ship of learning MT has sailed for me.

If my weight gets around 250lbs, i have already picked my dojo to get into Judo.

Pencak Silat draws me due to my past but not over 220lbs.

BJJ. It gave me such an understanding and mastery over my body and limbs that leaked into all other facets of my life.  Also I’m five six, and I can absolutely squish someone a foot taller than me, irrespective of their weight.

Not to mention it is tremendous fun.

I'm not representing, but the White Lotus mentioned in your cartoon is remembered as having closed schools.

According to martial arts lore, the vulnerable spot was located on top of his head.

One informal way of gauging attacks is whether they come from short, medium, or long range.

Firstly, a plan of attack might be based on who has the longer or shorter legs / or handheld weapon.

They are typically discussing flexibility more as a means of recuperation and physical conditioning.

It is infrequently discussed as a counter to ground fighting  / joint manipulation to develop strength at odd angles / at a wide range of motion.
