Anyone have any experience with some martial arts. When I was younger I tried out Tae Kwan Doe, didn't appeal to that much. I was looking at Ninjutsu it looks appealing.

Don't bother with that stuff.... if you want to learn an applicable fighting style, take Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, or just jiu jitsu.... Muy thai is quite fun too.

Gomi looks so unassuming... you'd figure "sure, I could mug this guy, what's he gonna do?"
that would be the last mistake you ever make.

Yea, i boxed for 2.5 years and did BJJ for 2 years. Fought competitively in NM KOTC undercircut prelims here 2 times, and fought for just plain old cashola in 9 bouts here at a little MMA club that would stage fights for the town at this seedy bar. It's a rush like no other. Then I fucked up my lower lumbar vertibrae when I was sparring with a guy nearly 45 lbs heavier than me... I pulled guard on him and he stacked me really fuckin hard with his whole body weight... slipped 2 disks and ended my fighting days. I can't really hold a guard tight anymore without some pain. It was fun though.

Happens so quick too... nothing could've been done to prevent it... I've advocated to the people who still train up there to STAY IN THEIR WEIGHT CLASS. It was a free for all when I was fighting there... they don't really let the newer guys fight outside their class now. The old salts don't care about that though, and will still take just about anyone who wants to roll. There's always that risk of injury.... I've been messed up numerous times, torn tendons, popped ligaments, torn bicep..... shit is dangerous, but fun.
