Psilocybe Semilanceata Cultivation 1

Hello. Due to geographical location, my adverse social skills, lack of access to easier strains and a plethora of laws ready to chain you down, i find myself in the need to successfully, or partially successfully cultivate Psilocybe Semilanceata.
Prologue : The only psilocybe containing species that i could find that grows in my area ( middle, east, continental europe), after scanning the internet for information for at least 6 months, is Psilocybe Semilanceata aka. Liberty Cap.
To find that mushroom, i had to climb on some mountains, above 1700 meters, 400 kms from where i live. It is always a long, difficult and expensive trip.
In the end, after 6 trips , i managed to actually find them growing, but they are scarce, rare, the environment is windy, and i ended up getting up to 23 fresh specimens.
Development : I will consider a successfull cultivation as : fruting in laboratory conditions.
I will consider a partially successfull cultivation as : obtaining enough micellium to seed the discovered spot next spring, after the snow goes away, and see if it will improve yeld in the next year's fall.
Current status :
- Took 7 spore prints of psilocybe semilanceata ( not all caps i got seem to have dropped a visible amount of spores). - Acquired a pressure cook vessel ( cheap, and might not net to the needed 15 psi - rated for 7 with safety valve at 20 psi ). - Acquired Agar algae. - Acquired Petri Dishes. - Acquired a cheap, 400x microscope. - Acquired glass jars. - Acquired some plastic containers. - Acquired some siringes. - *i have a fridge that can be used to provide the low temperatures needed by semilanceata.
Next steps
1) Build a still air box 2) Prepare and sterilize the agar solution 3) Sterilize the petri dishes 4) Pour the agar into the petri dishes 5) Inoculate the petri dishes+agar with spores 6) Use the microscope to eventually clean the contaminated part from the petri dishes. 7) Once the micellium will be developing well enough on the petri dishes, prepare various kinds of sterile or quasi sterile growth mediums ---- Grains ---- Grass ( taken from the natural spot ) 8) Inoculate the growth medium with the micellium grown on petry dishes. 9) Hope for the best, and wait for the growth medium to be colonized.
At this point, i think at least 3 or 4 months would have passed ( development, colonization) so it should be spring already.
10) Try to force the mushrooms to fruit by cold shocking them 11) Go back up the mountain and seed the area with small pieces of mycellium : i intend to burry some 2x2x2 centimeters cubes under the roots of the grass it is currently growing on.
At this point either i managed to fruit them ndoors, or i will hqve to wait for another 6 months for the fall to come and hopefully the seeded area will produce more than it naturally is as of now.
I will keep this post updated as i go along.
ps : i am new to this field, so do not be harsh on me and if you can give constructive advices i will listen.
pps: for the admins : if the post is made in the wrong section, please move it to the corect one.
Have a good day.

Not all the material has arrived yet. ( microscope and petri dishes are on the way )
For now i'm keeping some grass taken from the environment in boxes, i'll do a sterilization test on it, while i will be developing the micellium in the petri dishes, just to be sure i get to sterilize correctly when the time comes.

Good luck with what you are attempting but in your case i believe you will find 50 in the wild for every 1 you manage to grow indoors. I'm not sure what exactly makes them so hard to cultivate but many have tried and only a few have had some form of success (half a dozen or so) Like I said, good luck. You do have just about everything for growing cubes though 🤷🏽‍♂️

That's the Semi Bible as far as I'm concerned Spend a bunch of time on your cultures and make lots of plates... Best of luck.

You can grow psilocybe cyanescens/azurescens in your area too. I'm also in Europe and have picked/grown cyans. Outdoor woodchip beds will fruit year after year if properly maintained. Much more consistently than libs would, and they're easier to grow, propagate, locate, and spread. Live mycelium can easily be multiplied with cardboard and woodchips with a much lower chance of contam/failure.

My cheap enough microscope has arrived. Petri dishes are arriving next week. once i have all material and tools, i will start. next weekend , i hope.

This is a quick look trough the microscope at a pollen sample, 400x magnification.
I will take better pictures, and from spore prints once i return home.

I recently succeeded growing Psilocybe semilanceata in a similar way
- spore print - agar - 1x transfer - LC - BRF cake - broke it up into a 5gal pot with nitrogen rich soil, verm, some wood chips, and planted rye grass in half the pot
It fruited in 3.5 months which was nice!

As promised, here are some Psilocybe Semilanceata spores photos taken at :
glass sample plate ( with spores on it )

40 x magnification

100 x magnification

(100 x is done with light below/above clear/dark)
400 x magnification

Have a good day.

Very beautifull garden :3 The question i'd like to ask is : 3.5 months after you prepared the 18.9 liter ( 5 gallon) container ?
or
3.5 month for the whole process ( spores to fruit )?

3.5 months after preparing the 5gal pot, which at this point, the brf cake was already colonized
This one is a first for me also, just picked this one today - a subseco lib? Allowed it to mature with the rest that came in at the same time and everything else opened up

Dude my hat's off to you on your dedication! Climbing mountains to find shrooms! Fuck yes! That is an inspiration to me.
May I ask what about your local area prevents you from creating a patch artificially outdoors?
As long as you get rain and you can get some field aged horse or cow manure you should be able to create a patch. What are the temperatures in your area?

I’m a little confused by your comment - no climbing here the cultivated ones are in the yard! The pnw has the ideal climate to make a patch

I live in a big metropolitan area, lots of concrete. To find a suitable field/forest i still have to travel arround 20-30 km.
Temperatures are quite high, i live in a plain, at 200km or so from the sea ( 30-40 degrees in summer, 3-8 degrees in winter ( goes -0 at night ). Very low rain.
I might give it a try, once i get more experience, and eventually easier strains, for now, this is what i could find : a spot where semilanceata naturally grows, and i'd place my bet on that one.
I tried to import some Golden Teacher strain spores from a shop in europe but i stopped the shipment because ...i got scared from reading all the laws and such.
here psilocibin is a list 1 drug. You get 15 years + in jail soo... untill i can go to west europe a get the spores myself, i'll have to wait.

Update Equipment testing
1) Bolied some of the collected grass and made tea. I intend to mix a small percentage of this tea with water and agar to prepare the petri dishes. They should arrive tomorrow.
2) I took the grass i used for making tea, and put it into a jar and sterilized it in the pressure cooker for about 1 hour. I'm glad i did this step, because i found out my jars are not sealed enough , water from pressure cooker got in them, that's not good and i need to find other jars, that have an airtight closure.

Update : Prepared agar solution in petri dishes. Prepared 2 jars of grass.
Agar solution and jars were sterilized for 1 hour inside the pressure cooker, after they were brought to a boil for 30 minutes inside a normal container.
Took 1 plate and dropped some spores, tried to spread them arround.
I will keep an eye on this test plate for the next days.
Once the plates are completely dried, i will inoculate all.

After 90 days and 50+ posts you'll gain access to the marketplace.
Maybe you are lucky and find someone in your country to give away Cubensis spores.
They're waaaay easier to grow than Semilanceata.

I hope by that time i will have some colonized substrate.
Also, i might have some [golden teacher] spores delivered to me by "a friend".
Golden Teacher was the first mushroom and the only one i ever took. Only once, and the experience was , how should i put it : " life changing ".
Incredible visuals / insights. While the effect was at full strenght, i tried to write with a stilo on paper and the writing was literally flowing, falling down the paper.
Then i did some research, and i was able to find some liberty caps growing on top of a mountain, the rest is written in the first post.
As for the liberty caps, i only managed to harvest a few specimens, the effect was barely noticeable.
