Today is the end of the road for allenii, snow tomorrow and temps in the 20s for the foreseeable future. Glad to have gotten a nice handful but also sad to see many won’t reach their full potential, better than last though.

I don’t see allenii.  The pics look like azzies to me.  Is there another patch I missed?  Those look really nice.

It’s entirely possibly something got mixed up, patch is only two years old and Azzies are on the whole other side of the house. Pictures patch is supposed to be allenii, weather has not allowed me to get them mature enough to break veils in these two years though.

Some more pictures. Harvested a few more cyanescens.. and I 'think' the flowerpot which is showing growth now has subaeruginosa in it.. I can't member though (damn ADD). Also harvested some subtropicalis which is is drying on the top most tray..

Feels good to have some mushrooms on stock again, I was running out on mushrooms for microdosing. I gave too much away

This pic of rodent torn azzie cap that's super saturated came out neat to my eyes.
I like the clear edges of cap

This azzie had complete hole thru stem at elbow. Hardly attached to base yet cap matured. I love these cuz they are tough as fuk

Happy fall

It can be pulled off, but it is about the least optimal way to do it.  Yield will be very low.  Chips are the best way.

Once again the snow comes before the fruits sporulate. Probably could dehydrate these, but back to the earth they go.

I have seen people in northern environments fruit out azzies and cyans to maturity using cloched beds.  Somewhere on the shroomery from long ago there's a post about someone growing large raised beds of azzies uning that technique.

A little hoop house over the raised bed piggy mentioned with a lamp and a work/hang out area should keep it warm enough.  Switch up bulb size/type then maybe a heater.  Also the first few weeks of you have access to them you can hose them off in the bridle if the night spray them when it’s a cold snap.  They’ll recover sometimes.  You might not get another full flush but you can keep things going for a bit. The hoop house could be a game changer.

First attempt with Gymnopilus luteofolius…

Hoping to get feedback on the spots of color on the myc. Concerning/expected, etc.

Also, is it ready to case?

Thank you.

Color seems right for formation of primordia, ime.

As with cubes, casing really not required.

Good luck!

HeyEveryone!

Over the past few years, I've started a few Cyan patches of my own in the PNW i.e. they're fruiting. What I'm finding is that the fruits from my patches are generally smaller than fruits from wild public patches that I find. Some of my patches were cloned from a large fruit from a wild patch. I'm thinking that the small fruit size may relate to a nutrient deficiency.

What nutrients additions to a patch do you find helpful, and when and how frequent do you make these additions?

Thanks!

Some more cyanescens in the flowerpot. I really like to see the pins pop up here and there. Beautiful sight. Apart from that, the big planter is finally showing it's first sign of life..the first Subaeruginosa is popping up!

Unfortunately I think I lost the entire trench with Azurescens, after 2 years of waiting an invasive specie had taken over and pops up everywhere.. so sign of azurescens... also another trench is not showing any signs of life.. I would have expected Cyanescens, but nothing.. also no competing fungi, so that is a good sign I hope. Nevertheless I won't see the results as I'll be moved out by then.

I've got two pots of azurescens outdoors, one which was planted/mixed more than 6 months ago and the other one about 6 weeks ago.
What is required to see fruiting bodies, I guess I've read somewhere that you need 4 days of sub 4°C/40°F Is it enough to only reach this for an hour in the night? Is it possible to see fruits in a pot after being mixed with fresh woodchips only 6 weeks earlier?

Some tough questions to answer. With outdoor patches there are a lot of variables. I wouldn’t expect much from your six week old patch, I think moisture is the biggest fruiting trigger, the low temps just seem to keep the moisture from evaporating off, but seems like if you can keep things wet without completely drowning or getting infection from other organisms they’ll fruit as long as they’ve consumed enough substrates.

Shortly after the first outdoor fruiting bodies appeared in the outdoor location in the ground, my first Psilocybe Cyanescens in a planter arose. I've had various planters of colonized woodchips of P. Cyan and P. Az for over a year but this is the first time I've seen fruits. They are very intertwined with the grass, so I wonder if that is an important part of the equation. I have others that are in planters with Japanese Grass, but the chips weren't as close to the grass.

None.  "nutrients" do not help.  I find microclimate and chip bed depth to be more important.
