No it sounds like you are exuding confirmation bias to justify alternative methods for cultivation.

This forum and the entirety of its posts is the most data-dense source of facts available for growing the illegal drug you are pursuing.

I do have temp/co2/humidity sensors and a grow tent myself, none of which I have needed to use and I still have somehow managed to cultivate, dry, and store pounds of dehydrated tissue over a few weeks in my free time with the help of this forum and the people on it.

Can you use technology to do those things? Yes? Is it necessary or perhaps even more beneficial for the average home grower? If it was do you think it would be met with resistance?


If you want to set up an entire enclosed fruiting chamber which has an auto regulated environment wired through sensors and hooked up to an IoT device like a Pi which transmits realtime data to you via WiFi-afar- you absolutely can. But it’s not needed, typical, or the normal method here or on the majority of places cultivation is discussed.


The barrier to entry setting and forgetting a shoebox under your bed is much more easier spread to all, comparative to expecting random people to understand the advanced intricacies of minute environmental regulation. Let alone the controlling of those intricacies through something as advanced as a self regulated technological system

Im personally someone that insists on learning everything the hard way. I've tried to reinvent the wheel and deviate from convention and eventually, found myself in the groove of consensus. 

Mainet, if you think everyone here is stupid and we are just doing things the way we do because we haven't considered the alternative, i do implore you to strike out on your own and show us a better way.  Show us your canopies and your work and for sure, we will be willing and interested to understand.

I truly appreciate the time you took to assemble something that is a more modern guide and a "one stop shop" for those just starting out. I, like many on here before me, just lost an entire PF cake + coir monotub because of stealth jar contam. I'm really broken up about it and experiencing a sort of paralysis on what to do with the next set of jars that are fully colonized (and solid since it's been weeks) and starting to show signs of pinning. I am almost to afraid to do anything and this guide really put my mind at ease because quite frankly, I have no clue what went wrong the first time and how to prevent it again. I don't want to lose another grow.

I think you've given me a lot more confidence in the direction and asserted that what I've been doing is good, I just probably need to be more attentive to what's happening and just get my cleaning done right.

Appreciate you really laying it out and standing by the right collective guidance to help newbies like myself come along for the journey and really get easily acclimated to the environment. It can be incredibly intimidating and overwhelming and this helps a ton.

One thing I would ask is - what do I do if I let my jars colonize fully to the point where they're hard as a rock, yet easy to birth? I've read on here that I could shred it or simply break it into chunks (which I did on my first grow and subsequent failed attempt). I'm not sure what's best or what'll help grow some killer canopies. Appreciate the advice or guidance here.

hey thanks so much! dont get discouraged.  we all started somewhere. when you get it youll get it.

well i would probably dig it out with a sanitized spoon and simply spawn to bulk. if it smells ok it will probably produce.

They should be easy enough to get out of the jars as they've shrunk a bit. I'll try and break them up as best as I can. I just checked and I got a PE strain ready to pop, but there was a blueish tint around a pin (bruising?) inside the jar and some concerning green (potentially, it was hard to see clearly, let alone snap a pic). I keep my jars inside a container to try to keep humidity higher which could explain the droplets (maybe? Hoping it's not bacterial). Temps spiked this week a bit in the low 80s but normally kept them in the mid-70s.

Hi,
Judging by the accumulated water on the glass, I'm tempted to call it bacterial.
But nothing to bad because the mycelium have thrived.
If I were you, I ll try to spawn to bulk one in a shoebox (if it fail you lose just one little tub) and I would top fruit a second one (just open it case the top with substrate and put a plastic bag or ziplock on top for keeping humidity and creating fresh air exchange)

Yes, sorry they're all BRF. Just starting so I figured I'd start simply with BRF.

I was thinking shoebox as well to see what would happen and not to contain the other jars that are looking fine. All jars have moisture inside. RH in my tub where I put the jars was at 90% (have a sensor in there as well) so I'm guessing that could also contribute. I will keep the lid open for the next few days and see if it dissipates.

Either way, I'll isolate then; birth, case, and wait.

Phew... hopefully I get something here!

it is there at the end of the BULK section sir.  The SPAWN section is about creating clean spawn.

Thank you! Awesome up-to-date information that I wish I also had seen when I first started (recently). Would you consider adding a tek with poured agar to inoculate grain jars? I recently tried cutting up agar in a boro glass petri into tic tac toe and then scraping the pieces while holding the plate upside down above the jar. The next thing I tried is scraping the pieces into sterilized water and then pouring a bit into a grain jar. Remains to be seen if any of the two methods worked.

Best bet is to use your scalpel as a spoon to pick up the cut wedges.

Hi thank you,  If you check the links in the SPAWN section you'll see pasty's tic-tac-toe tiger drop tek which is more or less how I do my jars. I guess im not sure what you're suggesting beyond this?

The first method you mentioned sounds approximately like what I do.
