Seems like 99% of people in shroomery mushcult use the Bucket Tek. I do not and for saying this they call me arrogant cause i dont have pictures of my own mushrooms here. The mycoforum of my country just got their proof of shroomerys hostility. I do like it here though becaus of the agar. The archives are valuable.

I technically did, but it was a failed attempt followed by a decade-long hiatus, then PF jars, then the horrendous spores to grain shortcut, THEN a proper go at agar.

Now that I think of it, my first attempt involved scraping spores onto agar with a loop, and I just came full circle with that exact procedure about a year or so ago.

I really think it's the mark of inexperience at any sort of cultivation to see an online discussion as a winnable debate. Nobody actually cares what you're doing, and shit, I don't even WANT to know too much about what anyone's doing. Just because someone calls out bad advice doesn't mean that they actually care very much about "being right." And I've seen some of the most skilled and thoughtful farmers be utterly incapable of communicating their knowledge. Cultivation doesn't happen on a keyboard.

You also can't really "design" a whole growing scheme if you haven't gone through the motions first. I think I mainly learned that from my nascent weed-growing efforts. I did all sorts of overthought nonsense until I finally just said "fuck it" and went with wet paper towel germination and keg-cup seedling development.

At the end of the day, everything here is just a suggestion. There are some old heads who are squirting their unnaturally clean spores to grain and doing god-knows-what to keep it all running smoothly. And probably just about any harebrained shortcut that anyone comes up with has probably worked for somebody, somewhere, for whatever reasons. But if someone turns up here asking what to do, then odds are they need to jump through the same hoops as most others.

So as not to hijack the thread, I offer this: I confess to having overthought things in the past, and over-intellectualized what amounts to skilled manual labor.

I started with agar, a flowhood, petri dishes, etc. I started by watching RR' "let's grow mushrooms" before I knew the shroomery even existed. So I just bought everything I saw in his videos and did as he did. Including wearing scrubs and a hairnet :rofl:

I just bought a case of 12 Uncle Ben's whole grain brown ready rice. This is shameful in itself. I have 14 different culture syringes to use up and didn't feel like pulling out the PC.
I just want to try it once. I am using B+ since it's pretty contam resistant. That Tek really is all about cutting corners lol. I have low expectations. Used 4cc of the B+ in a quart grain jar also.
