Id go with 4 and 8 7 o'clock

I agree those bottom cleavage areas are prime to poke around in :laugh2:

Right hand colony, between 7 & 8 oclock looks the most organized of all the leading edge growth to me. Right hand, 5 o’clock is probably second place.

Pressed on glass as it were.

Thanks, Rotn everyone. I’m looking and the difference is the nice hardness of the edges there vs the sorta soft, less defined edges of the 12oclock areas.

The interior of the growth isn’t concerning? I have some plates with good edges but the interior growth has “bald spots” and stuff. I’ll be posting here a bit more tomorrow to clarify. My tank is empty.

Rotn is the best. At everything. Literally. Everything. From welding to foot jobs to elevator repair - no profession is beyond his comprehension and mastery. Think of a skill. Yes, Rotn is better. Think of being a person. Think of being YOU. Yes, Rotn has far surpassed you.

Never forget.

How do you get rid of the condensate in the catsup cups? I stacked them and they looked good but when I put them on the shelf, they all went back to condensation. Tried the cup of hot water on top of a few but it seems to keep coming back.

I keep "buffer plates" on top, since it's usually just the top 2 or 3 that get condensation due to temp changes

The black plates are just old ones I keep around to use as condensation buffers...
Same method should work with condiment cups... also, it may help to store them in a box or tub to help reduce temperature fluctuations

I will try that but where I poured is hotter than the room where they are stored. Maybe let them cool in the cooler room next time around. All part of the learning pit.

Any time you move them to a room with a different temperature, you can expect condensation to be a possibility.. just let them adjust to the new temperature and they should be fine in a day or 2.. the tops will still be an issue tho, so I'd still recommend buffer plates

Enmeshed mold is kinda not so much a thing. I've read some old threads where TCs argued that it doesn't happen even I dunno. But when there's healthy growth on the outside it's outgrown some mold in the center IF it's actually even there.

Sounds like it’s something I should worry about way less anyway. Contam is supposed to be easily visible on a plate, which is the entire purpose. So irregular growth is just that - irregular growth. As long as there’s good growth to transfer things should be ok 👌

Awesome this was very helpful. Thanks everyone.

Got a somewhat related question, my wise friend. I notice some plates I do will look real clean but if I take a closer look or hold it up to a light I'll see real light brownish/yellowish spots. Is that enmeshed bacteria or mold? Metabolites?
