So the EU countries which did not rush to reopen are facing the second wave of covid. Even the darling of the progressive media, NZ, despite their geographic isolation, early closure of the borders, full quarantine of the arrivals and having a PM who is not anti-science, is struggling to contain a new outbreak. This is because, as I mentioned on this thread before, it appears that covid is more infectious but less deadly than originally thought. In hindsight a short lockdown to give the ICU's some breathing space, followed by a staged re-opening - while working furiously on the vaccine and therapeutics - may have been the right strategy all along. Does this course of action sound familiar to anyone on this thread?

There is also a hidden gem in the linked CNN piece:

"Woolhouse said it was important to be cautious when comparing case numbers, because most countries now have far greater testing capacity than in March, but he noted that the proportion of tests coming back positive is also starting to increase. "Out of all the indicators ... that's the one that catches my eye," he said.

So, rephrasing Woolhouse, they are now confirming more cases partly because they are testing more. Does this sound familiar?

To be clear - I am not defending Trump here. Six months into this drama the US should have a universal drive-through testing system put together by the federal but as more information comes to light Trump's original assessment is looking more and more correct.

I have marine  friends  that are embarrassed to admit they voted for him .  It’s beyond my comprehension how anyone in the military could support such a selfish , dishonest  coward like Trump .
