Mold. Just grew some, you guys all said it was mold. I thought, neh just strange Mycelium.

Most mould would have swamped that plate in 10 days. . . If it's T1 I often get patchy submerged myc. . .

Make a transfer or 3 and keep the plate. . . It may pin for you, then you can come the pin. . .

I’ve had a plate like that, stay at that size and never get any bigger, when I actually tilt the plate in a certain angle I could see tiny little strands barely visible had creeped right to the edge of the plate which made me think that it’s Mold and maybe we cant see it in this picture. I would think that if it was healthy myc it would likely be bigger than that as well in 10 days so there’s definitely something amiss with that plate imo

Some more pics of my agar for some advice:

Here is the first petri dish. I thought this was mold but it has sprouted some good mycellium i think:

Bottom:

My guess would be to do a transfer from maybe 6 o clock or 9 o clock from this one

For this one, maybe transfer 2oclock or maybe 7/8 o clock?

What do you guys think? does this look like something reasonably healthy or is that all just mold?

Is there anything I need to be doing to get a plate to pin? I have 3 month old plates that aren't dries out but haven't pinned yet

I'm quite new so I'm figuring things out as I go. I used way too many spores on the first plate it seems. Second one is an early transfer for an experiment to find out what It was. Can anyone confirm that it is indeed mycelium on the second plate? And also any comments on the top one? I'm probably going to let it do its thing because I find it interesting. Oh and spores were labeled GT.

It is indeed the mycelium you're hoping for on that second plate. Good job!
It will need more transfers until you get a clean culture, but you're on the right track - just take one small transfer from that bottom piece in a couple days maybe around the 7-9 o'clock region as it seems to be the fastest growing.

Is it okay to leave a agar bottle in the PC until I get off work? Didn’t have time to let the pressure drop so I moved it into my room. I’m just worried because I didn’t get a chance to shake it that it might all settle on the bottom and not be usable.

What kind of agar bottle do you have? I leave mine for days, sometimes weeks without any problem.

I used the one BOD recommends in hes AGAR TEK.
They rock. I love that I can microwave and pour the agar when ever I need them and/or have time.

I've done that a few times. In my experience, when you warm it up/shake it again, it all mixes together just the same.
Gotta consider that, when it's getting PCed, it's violently boiling and mixing together. So, pretty much anytime you let it cool to consolidation after that, the same process is happening whether you physically shook it or not.

That looks like my pan cyan mycelium it was like that at first but it went white , i usually shine a light in it and if I see the strands of mycelium all around it then it’s fine
