80%+ have been counted, so it wouldn’t change much if he won the rest. 90%+ reporting from all the states.
The dream of an uncontested convention is obv dead, and so is Bernie’s campaign. You can’t invigorate the party from 2nd place...

If they don't come out and vote for Bernie now, do you think they'll come out and vote for Biden when he's up against Trump?  Unfortunately, it looks like Trump 2020.

If there's 415 delegates available, how is at 80% reporting when there is only like, 100 delegates or something awarded.

Are not all 415 available? I seriously don't know how this shit works I guess

65% of the delegates awarded with 93% reporting.

Well then.
How about another signature bet - same premise, same NYT needle. You pick the state/states you think are wrong. But this time, if you lose, your sig has to say “The New York Times is the pinnacle of modern journalism.”

Pick a state, any state.

We could also do final delegate counts, but I want NYT’s margin of error to be allowed in our bet. (+-4%)

If I lose, I’ll do “Falcon91Wolvrn03 was right about NYT all along. NYT is fake news. I should have listened.” Or the like.

Where does it show their estimate for how many delegates Bernie will win?  Obviously Bernie is going to win California.  Again, the NY Times won't post information that is clearly false.

But you still don't seem to get it.  By withholding the California results, Biden gets a bigger boost post Super Tuesday, just like Buttigieg did post Iowa (which never even bothered doing a final accurate count!):

‘We don’t have time to correct every error’: Iowa Democrats vote 24-14 to certify caucus results

Edit:  I see you now posted the TOTAL delegate estimates.  I'm not sure if I'd trust our final election results after what happened in Iowa.

No, I get it. We do agree that DNC fuckery is afoot (just like in 2016). We just disagree on whether the NYT is part of it.

I’d vote for Trump out of spite but, if I’m being honest, nothing short of a sanders nomination will get me in the booth. Plus I fucking hate Trump. I think I hated him before I knew what he looked like lol...I lived in subsidized housing as a teenager, in nyc projects called Trump Village. Whenever they fixed the heat, the ceiling would leak. And when they patched that, we’d lose hot water, etc.

Point is, my brain was associating “Trump” with “shitty” before that became popular!:tongue2:

I’m just too frustrated, man, I can’t do it anymore.
Fuck Biden, fuck Trump, fuck voting and fuck US “democracy”.

Trump just got reelected last night.

I guess people want to keep their trillions in student debt and maintain their shitty health care.

I said it a while ago, the US middle class is completely doomed and last night put the final nail in that coffin.

You know, any way you look at it, if it wasn’t for Obama’s popularity, Bernie would be President instead of Trump. Biden wouldn’t really be on the map.

So, technically, Obama got Trump elected twice lol. Hopefully the same backlash will happen after Trump...

This sub is probably the wrong place for that.

This sub is the only place for that. We're talking politics. We're talking about a politician's health. Where else might we discuss such things?

I used to work with gear oil all day every day. I don't mind the smell of it at all.

Speculating on the smell of a person is a far fetched version of talking about health, I do however appreciate your vigor and hard work.
...

Find Tulsi quite attractive
but this has been an instance of being uncomfortable as a female poster on this subforum
as we are in a thread about Bernie Sanders political campaign to become president
and are discussing the attractiveness and potential sexual engagement of a different candidate

have a lot of respect for the posters in this subforum, for the most part people provide valuable insights on the topics at hand
but stuck wishing that the discussion of how hot Tulsi is would move over to the Pub thread for posting a picture of someone you consider hot
where myself or twighead already posted Tulsi months ago, but that is getting into real digression

and with all due respect to Enlil for doing a good job keeping this subforum free of personal arguments and trash
it is a bit of an eyeroll moment to see a moderator joining in on the assessments of Tulsi's attractiveness
but am also aware that attempting to summon Balls in by poking fun at his honest attempts to move off-topic discussions into new venues to address
is going to diminish the capacity to do so when some other thread gets really trashy instead of just slightly trashy

also don't want to be the obnoxious trans woman who stifles the cis men from their fun-time discussions
but suppose this post has made it too late for that

also, my guess is that Tulsi smells like sandalwood nude, as it is a frequently used essential oil among other Hindu women I have known

Fair enough. We'll move on then.

I do appreciate the information about Sandlewood Nude, though. I doubt I would ever find such wisdom nuggets in the pub.

I just made it up tbh because I had crunched the numbers earlier and I'm a bit busy, but I knew it would still be wrong.

Kinda confusing. Is it not supposed to work like this then?

Like, how is it that less % of delegates is rewarded than the % of reporting ??

Multiple states were like this when I last checked...

Oh I don’t blame you, it’s a clusterfuck system. My “fav” part is:
Quote:
The California primary is a semi-closed primary, with the state awarding 494 delegates towards the 2020 Democratic National Convention, of which 415 are pledged delegates allocated on the basis of the results of the primary.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_California_Democratic_primary

So 80 delegates are just arbitrarily awarded by California’s DNC arm.

I agree that Trump's a shoe-in for the second term but this has been coming for a while. There is a reluctance on this forum to give him credit for what he does better than most people alive - his outrageously effective persuasion game. His rallies, Twitter messaging, trolling of the Left to please the middle are all tools of persuasion which have cemented his base and can lure an occasional independent. For sure, Trump will benefit from the Sanders vs DNC spat and this may sound opportunistic but the pressure on the Dems came from his relentlessly consistent messaging. Had he not been so formidable it would not have mattered who the Dems conspired to put up against him.

At the risk of losing even more fans here I will say the World is fortunate that by fluke this time round a guy with a tremendous persuasion game came in a personal package which appears genuinely focused to benefit the US. Despite the banging on of his opponents Trump has taken no steps to dismantle any of the checks and balances, broke no laws (so far as we can tell), and has not stepped outside his constitutionally mandated powers. Think about it - an aspiring authoritarian would have taken less than 3.5 years to start using the state to go after his opponents, defying court orders, consolidating his control of the army etc. Historically we have not been so lucky - the likes of Hitler, Trotsky and Fidel were all tremendous persuaders but their untimate motives were dodgy.

Of course not. There’s no solid proof.
I don’t think journalists should make accusations. I think they should report tangible facts.

They jumped on the 2016 leak, putting this on their front page on the morning after it was released by Wikileaks:
Quote:
Among the emails released on Friday were several embarrassing messages that suggest the committee’s chairwoman, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, and other officials favored Hillary Clinton over Mr. Sanders — a claim the senator made repeatedly during the primaries.

An interesting angle is that the black voters who appeared to have made the difference on Tuesday are very patriotic and for-greater-good type people. Think about it - given the socio-economic stats they predominantly voted AGAINST the candidate who promoted policies directly benefitting them (extensive transfer of wealth from the rich of the not so). In their wisdom they decided that either if it sounds like a con it is one or that there are basic values which cannot be sacrified for a personal gain.
