What do you think about if the alt left wasn't so nazi-esk with social order would the presidency still go to trump in 2020? I personally think the alt left ideas may have gift wrapped the 2020 presidency to trump for another four years.

But I'm new to the political forum here so maybe someone more informed can give their opinions. I'm just a simple mushroom farmer.

glad you do not dislike me either, but you are visibly portraying butthurt in a really stereotypical "rightist" way

but, to clarify as you seem to not comprehend simple conversation dynamics
recognizing and acknowledging how a topic has gone off-topic as part of noting that it went off topic
is called reflection
and if you read my post further than the first line, you would have noted that my post included a suggestion for a more appropriate place to continue the line of conversation without eliminating it completely

feel free to adhere to your decision to stop responding tho, you appear not to be fully aware of what you are responding to

think that the only reason that the alt-left appears nasi-esque is because the alt-right is fostering literal white supremacists; if the alt-right didn't have such extreme views, the alt-left would not be expressing exteme opposites
like many posters here already say -- the further the push in one direction, the further the rebound in the other

but it was not the alt-left that gift wrapped the presidency for Trump, it's the moderate right-leaning left that comprises the DNC that did so
at the actual population basis, there is clearly lots of popular support for alt-left ideas throughout the US population
but the electoral system is designed to keep a lid on the people gaining meaningful power

I dunno how you guys count down there but I'm looking and seeing a bunch of states that are <70% some 60% of results only

Seems like it's taking forever again. Gonna be one of those things where the results never come in and they prop Biden up until the next primaries

Also, some places say like, whatever x amount of delegates available, and y amount of the results are in...

yet it doesn't correspond with how many delegates have been awarded thus far. Unless I'm retarded, it seems like some states are actually only at like 40-50% results in

I dunno. Maybe it works down there that way the system is hard to follow for a foreigner  :goat:

Your concerns are noted.  I'm not sure how I feel about them from a policy standpoint, however.  I think I need more reflection.

On the one hand, this is a debate forum.  In that spirit, I do make a lot of effort to keep the rhetoric as proper as possible.

On the other hand, this is a social media site for drug users/abusers.  Because of that, it can be very hard to be the "authority figure."  Too heavy of a hand, and no one will participate.  Too light, and people will lose all sense of the purpose of this forum.  The balance is quite precarious.

While there is no instruction manual for how to moderate a forum like this, I've developed some techniques over the last few years.  One of these techniques is to try to keep humor and levity in my posts along with searing rhetoric.  I think it humanizes me.  I may be wrong.  To the extent I'm right, however, I do think it helps me approach members in a more friendly way when I must discipline them for breaking rules.  I like a lot of these people, so it isn't easy to scold or punish them.  It's a job I've taken on, though, so it's either that or relinquish the M tag for someone else to handle it.  Joining in on that discussion was about humor for me.

Another technique I've learned is to, by example, encourage other members to call out poor rhetoric and fallacies in this forum.  Your post is an excellent example of a member doing just that.  Your point is wholly valid and should be given due consideration, which I've already stated above that I will give it.  That'll happen after the sting of being called out for what I know to be improper behavior wears off a bit.

FWIW, I don't know how far to go with something like this.  If people were joking about race of a candidate, it would be a no-brainer.  I don't know if/why sexual attractiveness (which is a gender-specific discussion, whether we openly admit that or not) should be treated any differently.  I mean that sincerely...I just don't know.

All I can promise is that, after reflection, and possibly input from the forum, I will form a clear position about this topic.

Thank you for bringing it up.  I will derail the thread no further.

P.S. Normally, I'd have this discussion with you via PM, but I did it here because I felt it was important to give you some backup in the interim while I was gathering my thoughts.

Not going to lie, if this happened in 2012 on my signup while still attempting to find male identity
would have likely just jumped in with my first and last line in participation
but having accepted my identity as a woman for a couple years now
just found that reading post after post of it kind of stung a little
and my larger concern is whether we may have a sort of "boys club" going on in this subforum without knowing it
where women (cis women more particularly, but trans women as well obviously)
may feel alienated by how some of the commentary shifts around female candidates
and if any female Shroomerites are lurking this thread, would really like their feedback as to how reasonable or overboard my callout may have been

especially difficult identifying as a lesbian who drools over attractive women still myself

also vaguely recall calling out BBW at another point for refering to Warren as "shrill"
for fear that actions like that would stereotype "Bernie Bros" as sexist

genuinely appreciate the feedback
and, for what it is worth,
have dealt with similiar callouts back in my moderating days -- female gamers when they become vocal can really harness years of discrimination into their words
so comprehend that it stings, and would like to reassert my respect and appreciation for all your other contributions in this subforum

and I like koods, but I pick on koods a lot more so it seems almost natural at this point
and would like to affirm my not picking on you
and not wanting to turn you and balls against each other with my reference to calling him in to sweep off-topic stuff
as I totally did that as a joke with regards to the discussion of agriculture a while back, then felt all embarassed that I pressured him into it

++ after my time as a moderator, it has become my preference to see forums deal with rule assessments and stuff as transparently as possible
so appreciate you taking public posting as a course rather than PM, when not dealing in official warnings and the like

and prolly advise continuing to keep to the looser enforcement

and misinterpreting how the thread had diverted into Tulsi's scent
when Shroomery has always been my outlet to relax, and can recognize and respect that other posters may have found such discussion palliative in that regard

also the rapport building through comedic input is still a good thing on your part
but this may have been an instance where watching the pot boil was better than stirring it a bit
but comparing gender and sexuality to your own existing positions on race (which, assuredly, my own post hedged closer to than anyone elses in targetting a religiously-inspired scent) is something I leave to you with the confidence that whatever side you come down on will be the appropriate one
for both yourself, and for the forum at this time

I think the most bothersome aspect of this whole deal is that the younger generation has the #s to win this... and then come voting time they just don't vote. I know way too many people that don't vote in primaries here in Oregon and generally speaking this is one of the most 'politically charged' areas I've lived - Sanders always wins here, but its not cause of my lazy ass friends- its cause older adults vote for him here too.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.
