The DNC’s Secret Nuclear Option To Stop Bernie Sanders

Lee Camp outlines six ways the DNC could screw over Bernie Sanders:

1.  The DNC establishment could trash Bernie
2.  The DNC could try and keep the race close enough to force it to a convention vote where the Superdelegates get to vote
3.  The primaries could have potential miscounts against Bernie, and they could purge potential Bernie voters (they did both in 2016)
4.  They might not count all the provisional ballots
5.  Machine voting could be rigged without paper ballot verification
6.  The DNC could implement a new rule they just passed - they can eliminate a candidate for not being Democratic enough

The establishment would likely prefer Trump to Bernie, so these are things we should look out for.

Unreal.

Holy shit.

We have one party here in America folks. The Fascist party.

See, this is what I was saying the other day. They're going to rig this primary just like the last one. I wonder if I will even be allowed to vote. I'm in Michigan now, so my vote for Bernie is going to matter a lot more this time around, and I would really like to know that I will be able to vote.

This is exactly what I foresee happening. It will be the end of the Democratic party, though. All of those powerful people will be booted from their elected positions.

If it were anyone but Trump, I could see people taking it up the ass again, but Trump is such a heinous character, that people will not be able to stomach the Democratic party throwing the election. Maybe this will be the wakeup call America needs. Outright, blatant, in-your-face election rigging, after 4 years of in-your-face corruption.

Sanders is 2 points behind Biden in Texas, and trending upwards. If Sanders takes Cali and Texas, he's got this thing locked. Bernie is likely to surge after Iowa and NH also.

I think bernie is going to overperform and sweep the first few states ultimately going on to be the nominee. A lot of establishment people in the party are going to be unhappy, but these are the same people who supported clinton and who now support biden.

That's a nice summary of my forecast. I think there's going to be a lot of fuckery along the way. They may decide to pull the 'Bernie's not a democrat' card at the convention. If so, I say Bernie runs 3rd party.

Bernie won't run 3rd party. This is the last chance for the voters and the party to do the right thing.

I think he could potentially be persuaded to run 3rd party, if they 'went nuclear' on him. If he had a blowout in the primary, and they denied him the nomination, on the grounds that 'he's not a democrat', I could see it. The DNC would basically be throwing the election anyway.

After what the put him through last election... I could see Bernie being fed up with the party, and I could see him winning as an independent. In fact, that's the only scenario I could see an independent winning under.

I agree Bernie wouldn't run 3rd party, unless the DNC decides he's not Democrat enough to run and they use their new option to kick him out of the party for that reason.

Edit:  Wooof beat me to it.

I don't think the DNC will be that blatant. They're more into being underhanded.

Bernie running as an independent with Biden as the nominee would guarantee a Trump victory. It would make a statement, but the progressives don't have time to use several more election cycles to build a movement. There wouldn't be enough left to salvage.

The ruling class are simply going to pray that Bernie doesn’t meet the 51% delegate threshold necessary to win the nomination in the first ballot.

Barring that, they’ve stacked the DNC for as much fuckery as possible until then, just like in 2016 (state parties adopted new rules DURING caucuses, voter roll purges, blatant election tampering like Bill Clinton blocking polls in Philadelphia with his army of secret service members, etc). And then beyond that, they’ll just tank the economy and stonewall Bernie’s agenda and just pray to god that perceived failure alienated enough people that his movement withers away and dies.

Lucky for us the Democratic Party is chalk full of incompetent shit heels.

And that's precisely why it's not 'he', but 'we'.

This is not about Bernie Sanders, it's about millions of working class people standing up and saying 'you can't have it all'. Well, we don't sit down when Bernie takes office. We stand and continue the fight.

We don't sit down when Bernie wins Iowa and New Hampshire. We don't sit down when Bernie wins California, and Texas. We don't sit down when Bernie beats Donald Trump, and we don't sit down 4 years later!

In response to your last sentence, yes the Democratic is clearly in need of a leader, even if he is the one they're trying to keep out.

I don't think Bernie necessarily needs the 51%, although that would  insure it. I think if he has a clear plurality going into the convention it will be difficult for the party to screw him. I'm predicting a lot of civic activism at this convention, not at the level of Chicago in 1968, but the most intense confrontations since then. I'm predicting AOC will be there in full force playing the role of the SDS and the Yippies. There will be more young people outside as in 68 which has to be good for the future of the party.

We need to keep in mind that Biden is still leading nationally by most measures and Bernie needs to steamroll him with momentum, starting next week.

I don't see Bloomberg winning, but his presence and his money are going to be influential. Liz Warren's future reputation will be cemented in stone by what she say says after she drops out, if she goes with Bernie or Biden, but I suspect she will waffle and say she will support the nominee. The hilarious one will be Hillary's endorsement of Bernie if he wins.

Bernie is going to win the nomination. What happens after that will be interesting. I don't think for one second that Biden is going to win. One Warren-esq fuckup, and Biden is done. Bernie supporters are unwavering.
