Legality Loophole of sorts?

I was just reading through some things on in the FAQs when I came across this page:
Legality info
It says that it is legal to grow cakes in the US as long as you dont let them fruit.Is this an outdated page,because I was under the impression that myceluim/mushrooms at any stage (besides spores of course)were illegal?
I do know that about 4 or 5 years ago I was purchasing mycelluim suspensions on line from a paticular vendor who was located in Florida.It said on his site at the time that it was legal.But then about 6 months after they started selling these they switched back to just regular spore syringes,without mentioning why.I always assumed the law had changed,but according to that page you can grow jars as much as you want and under federal law it is legal as long as they dont fruit.That would show intent to consume.


Is this true?.If so that would mean I could grow as many jars as i wanted to spawn to outdoor beds(hidden of course) and if the cops ever came there is nothing they could do.I am confused,it sounds too good to be true.

Not quite.

They can bust you for intent(sp) to manufacture a controlled substance. They would just have to fruit the cakes to prove what you were growing. The mycelium also contains psilocybin.

I understand that the mycelluim contains active compounds,thats why this page suprised me.It says that you can just make jars and eat the rice cakes(something i wouldnt do,yuck) withough ever breaking a law.I just found it odd.As I said 4-5 years ago I was buying mycelluim susppensions from a legit vendor online.

I believe that info to be wishful thinking on the part of the author.

I trust Erowid as a more reliable source.
