I met the only two girls I've ever dated on the internet. One was a GREAT girl (we sorta grew apart though.. I was 18 she was 15, and that's a HUGE difference, though I didn't realize it at the time). The other was pretty cool too, but a little nutty (and very slutty.............. fuckin watch for that shit............... trust me). Several people I would consider to be close personal friends, I have never met face to face. Just get to know them before you move to another state or something. And keep in mind that they COULD be lying to you about everything, although, despite popular belief, MOST people you meet on the internet are probably telling mostly the truth. Esspecially if you're just talking about music or movies or shit like that ya know?

I wasn't expecting to find someone, but I did, and it is amazing how well it has worked out!  :laugh:

The only thing that sucks is when you are temporarily in another country, and it is going to be months before you return... you REALLY get to know the person really well, and get the chance to develop a strong, deep connection... BUT THERE IS NO SEX FOR MONTHS!!!!!  :mad2:

But seriously, I wouldn't prefer it to work out any other way, than how it has with me and her.. we really know each other, and we really have developed that deep connection, which is really the most important thing in a meaningful relationship.... I think meeting on the net really helped clear a lot of barriers that usually prevent most people from developing it. And besides, there is so much lust built up that we are going to be going at it passionately for years to come!  :lol:  :heart:

I think i should add that you guys with long distance relationships should really be carefull. Those things lead to heartbreak 90% of the time.

I mean i kinda stole my gf out of a LDR with some asian guy in the US. Whoops.

But anyway, remember that relationships boil down to sex. And you cant have much sex when the significant other is 600 miles away. Putting up not having any sex only lasts for so long.

I met my boyfriend of 9 months through the internet. I didnt actually meet him online but I met a good friend of his. He lived in the same town as me....so we started talking through aim and I noticed that when he would talk about his friend, it seemed like me and him were into the same things. So one time I met up with them and thats how I met my boyfriend.

I kinda felt like a geek the whole time but I think it was fate, if I hadnt went on the one website, I would have no boyfriend :smile:

Spiffy and I first met online.. some 4 odd years later, our relationship is stronger than ever. Granted, tons of ups and downs as with most relationships.. but we are deeply and madly in love with one another.

Thats it in a nutshell.

There are probably a lot of great normal women online that you could meet up with, but I'd bet for every one normal one you'd find 10 wack jobs or at minnimum with enough issues that forces them to find love online.

But as long as you get to know them on the phone and are confident the pictures are authentic (get a bunch of them) you should be pretty safe.

But yeah, alot of freaks I'm sure out there.

Since I made this post, I've met a couple really cool chicks online, one of whom I've already met a couple times.  The other I hope to meet in the near future.

I agree it's easy to find head cases on the net...  but I seem to have lucked out recently, the girls I've met seem to be relatively stable (or stable enough, heh).  I think as long as the net is only used as a way to contact someone, and most of the relationship takes place in person, it's nothing that new.  But if you only talk online for a long time....  then it can get odd.  I wonder what it would be like to meet someone online, talk to them for years (so you get to know eachother really well), then meet them in real life.  I wonder if they'd be what one expected or....?  Ho hum.  The quest continues!!  :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

THIS is my opinion. I don't know anything about these dating things online. But i figure, if you want a decent looking girlfriend (only as far as looks go, i'm sure there are plenty of nice, good hearted girls on there) i don't know why they would be doing it online, because they most likely wouldn't have a hard time finding a guy, unless there is something weird with them. But that is just looks.

Yeah, make sure you get a pick and make sure it's not fake, and call them first.

The thing is, its not like good looking girls don't use the internet.  Everyone, from all kinds of backgrounds do, so you're probably just as likely to find a looker online as you are in person.  Its like this: there are probably thousands of REALLY hot girls who take mushrooms.  Odds are atleast a few of em have wandered by this site.  Same thing with any other website or chatroom or whatever.  Only thing is, you don't REALLY know for sure until you DO meet them irl (i hate saying that).
