I got me a case. Cheap for 250 of them. Haven't used yet. Should I make a hole in them if I do no pour?

Yes..

Try putting the hole on the side and cover with micropore tape.

Best to put holes in how many dishes your going to do on your first run.

You might want to change size of hole or location..

If the hole is not big enough you'll blow the lid off the dish in your pc cycle..

I make 1/4" holes on the side with 2 layers of MP tape.

Almost ordered some until I saw the price of shipping. :frown: I was going to try them just because of how cheap they are but shipping doubles the cost pretty much now im debating myself.

Similar, not exact. Im not sure if the lids of those are PP5. but 13 dollars for 50 or 20 dollars+ shipping for 250.

How much agar are you pouring to get an even base? I've noticed Ill have veryyyy thin spots on that lip in the middle

I made 12 plates. Everyone of them came out good. I stacked them in 4 stacks of 3 in foil.15 psi for 22 min.

Questions:

Do you cover the hole with micropore? single or double layer?

How much time do you leave in PC at 15psi?  45 mins?

Hole on side up top. Two layers of micropore. 15psi for 22 min.
I made 4 stacks of 3 and wrapped the stacks in foil. After pressure went down I put them in SAB after I wiped down with 70%iso. After the agar cooled I flipped the plates upside down cause condensation. 2 stacks of six in SAB.

I used them today and they are so easy to deal with in SAB. I got lot condensation. I think I removed from PC to soon. After myc takes hold I'm flip them back upside down. I love these things so far. I got 2 stacks of 3 in shoe boxes.

Glad you like them. They work fucking flawlessly ime. I like them even more than petris regardless of the pour-no pour difference. My aerial myc has room to flourish and makes for easy transfers from it too.

Do you wrap them in siran wrap? Or parafilm ( not sure that's what it's called) or do you just leave them be? Mine are stacked in 2stacks of 3 in shoebox.

Thanks so much. Having to choose between petris and other unwieldy containers made me hesitant to try agar. As soon as I saw this I ordered some and started doing research.

What i mean is, I pour them extra light- I wont even cover the bottom surface, and when i take them out to cool, I cool them on an angle, so the agar pools in to one side, making a smaller patch of agar.

Also, yes they are squeezable and do not crack!

These are not durable enough for spawn. I was using the Choice 32 oz versions of these for bottle teks, and while they did work the plastic was too flimsy to shake the jars. After PC the lids can be sort of loose so you really have to be careful with them. You can easily squeeze it too hard and pop the lids off when shaking and handling. I had dreamed up an entire empire around these damn deli cups once upon a time. It's really hard to find the more durable heavy duty deli cups with a PP lid.
