Interesting hopeful ideas. As I said originally, I am not terribly sanguine about our future. I think there are more ways it can go wrong -- for us -- than ideally. But... there is an off chance for our redemption, and as I also said, I do care enough to wish it so.

That said, I feel A.I. will gain extreme sophistication much sooner than many posters here do. This is actually in line with what experts are predicting. 2040 is going to see a radically different world than the one we have today. And it's only twenty years off. In order for A.I to become at least more independent, it will need revolutions in robotics and nanotechnology. These revolutions are currently underway. What all this means for planetary evolution is anyone's guess, but my guess is that homo sapiens will be supplanted on the sooner side. This is not necessarily a bad thing for us for a number of reasons.

On the subject of a new dark age, frankly, I think we're in one now. I feel like it really started at about the turn of the millennium, and has been growing steadily worse. This is certainly the case in America, and I can't really speak well about other cultures because I don't have firsthand knowledge. But when I consider what's happening in the U.K., continental Europe, China, Korea, Japan, Israel, South America, parts of Africa, etc., one has to wonder whether this cultural degradation isn't in some respects global. Like you, I very much hope what's on the other side of it turns out to be some sort of exit from a dark night of the world's soul. We could, of course, just run ourselves into the ground. It's an interesting time to be alive, I guess.

I bet there already is a secret eugenics program buried under a mountain, and it is not white supremacist, just healthy, beautiful, and intelligent.

Even if we knew about it, we would not want to, nor would we be able to stop it, since, in the face of what we do know, the biosphere as we know it is facing an immense challenge from idiotic human activity motivated by hatred, greed and lies.

Sad truth. First time i heard of the euginics program i bet its there. Some of the elites/rich here are able to concieve multiple times for beautiful twins with the help of human science.

@DividedbyQuantum
I find nanotechnologies having a great implication, upto the medical practices. Here in our area some of the doctors are into alternatives. Eg. 03/ozone instead of antibiotics.

I hear ya interms of the modern dark ages, its evident from the wide spread sufferings and majority of the world being stuck in the state of dark knight of the soul even here in SEA, That we are getting closer to an end era. In my own view and opinion, Imagine a train without control speeding towards the end of the terminus then bumping into a total blackout At the end.(whether it be technical, societial, gorvermental) Total lightsoff under the bunkers/caves/house etc. It will be shortlived with the help of a "Divine Hands" for the LIGHT to finally come towards the world awakening & Unity. Thats the start of modern primitive living(shortlived) to refine our ways, while (we)humans work-together towards the new age at a much rapid phase. I think your right about A.I. revolution being much closer by then.

Or we could be in a new kind of dark age, during which all the infrastructure and technology survives and continues to develop, but people's spiritual and intellectual awareness is at a very dim intensity. Everything is new now, and I think history only has limited lessons to teach from much simpler contexts. We see that democratic governments are having a very hard time dealing with modern complexity -- the U.S. and U.K. being two obvious examples. This is all tied together and there's no guarantee human civilization will see 2100. Who knows how long this dark age will last -- it could be ten years, or forty or more. Like you, I wish it would lead to a positive metamorphosis, but it's impossible to predict accurately. We'll see, eventually.

Perhaps we could move spiritual and intellectual awareness apart from one another, because combining them is how we got to the OG dark ages in the first place.

Establishment corporate media will do little to rock the boat or spur change, more often than not they will give a platform to those who aim to halt it.

I do not feel very optimistic about the realm we now call reality.

If you had the chance to be whatever it is you wanted to be and to do whatever it is you would want to do would you ever get to a point of absolute fulfillment, or would there just be another list created.

I do see a future where individuals are able to exist in a Qausi hybrid AI induced utopia and we really are not that far away.
Somebody putting on the headset and having a real conundrum about which reality to stay in is close.

I feel like we are creating the next list.

I do, if you want to climb a mountain there are steps to take. Sometimes we climb mountains, and when we arrive at their peaks, sometimes we see another peak, and sometimes that peaks our interest.

You tackled most of it. we cant predict the time accurately.  Despite the advancement, spiritual intellectual awareness drops. In the wider picture of it things are really out of wack, without balance its in a brink of domino effect collapse. Eg. Vast religous corrupt systems with their vast churches(private schools) who uses its flocks as a form merchandize(bloc vote) to empower political agendas in return gains govermental favors, it becomes a monopoly, the consecutive effects are bizzare(coincidentally what theyve been doin for self-gain aswell as their future dissolution is fully written in the books they've twisted to preach). Without this corrupt systems and with few tech tweaks humanity will leap forward.

agreed
religion is separate from science
people need to be more clear about the purpose of each.

i.e. we do not get married or baptized in laboratories, and we do not do experimental analysis in chapels.

You misunderstand me. I don't mean they are in the same category; I mean each of them is in relative abeyance in our current historical and sociocultural period. I'm not trying to tie them together in any philosophical sense.

You have a point. It may be folly to separate the aspects of one's being into separate, reductionistic parts independent of each other. Ultimately we are one interdependent individual.

humans have been here 6 million years.  will we make it another 6 million?  fuck no.

this is where shit gets serious.  The earth will still be here, but humans may not be.  Unless we start asking ourselves every day "can I (we) afford to keep doing this?"  and act accordingly.

I used to think the most important thing was that the human race survives.  As the years progress I care less and less.  Im so disgusted now I really don't care if humans live or not.  Sometimes I almost pray for mass extinction.  I love nature and I hate people.  That wont change anytime soon.

i guess its not just me afterall. In the next era those gaps will be fixed.
Less wasted vast resources on such folly search eg. Organic life beyond earth, and such.. etc.. but focus on such things like Quatum

I understand what you’re saying I just don’t think an abeyance of spiritual awareness should be necessarily be a bad thing. In fact I believe it may be a good thing, because I see it as an issue when politicians display such spiritual awareness due to the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

There is a vast difference between bullshit right-wing religious dogma and legit spiritual health, which can exist independently of any and every exoteric religion.

My point is that spiritual awareness in any form has no place in politics.

And what makes some forms of spiritual awareness bullshit right-wing religious dogma over another?

Mindfulness is a fine thing to prothletise, however spiritual awareness is incredibly difficult to define and from my point of view open to numerous interpretations. IMO it is very unclear what is meant by it.

Spiritual awareness in part has brought us to this point politically.

They are so linked it now appears that they are not.

As a part of all culture it is intrinsically a part of what we are, it will and has always influenced politics .

I wouldnt care much about it in the wider picture of it what churchianity has been doin for decades is a mere puppets play. Its for their own dissolution.
