We're in the middle of an epic Extinction event. Even the insects are disappearing at alarming rates. Good luck everybody and good job...

seems the reality has been apparent for quite some time, but we chose to play with our phones, instead of taking the red pill...

We live on a planet eating itself.
Enlarged cicular contraction.
All death supporting life.
A positvely human subtraction.

Detritus betrayed by growth.
No difference in state.
We walk upon the fallen.
Neither here nor there our fate.

A kingdom runs short of substrate.
When the host dies.
Awareness and the colours it creates.
Difference no longer ties.

All is well.
All never was.
All brilliance tells.
All was just because.

That's true. There are a few scenarios I imagine -- I listed a couple in the original post -- and in all of them I see homo sapiens as such gone by 2100. There are possibilities for a trace to remain, and they do involve technology. But I never said I was sanguine about something like A.I. It might be very ugly, and totally alien, and possibly even hostile. My only point is that, given the choice between an abortion of the future and its continuation, I would prefer the latter. Naturally, and like many others, this is a purely academic point.

My point is that spiritual awareness in any form has no place in politics.

And what makes some forms of spiritual awareness bullshit right-wing religious dogma over another?

Mindfulness is a fine thing to prothletise, however spiritual awareness is incredibly difficult to define and from my point of view open to numerous interpretations. IMO it is very unclear what is meant by it.

to govern one must be in tune with the populace, but the state does not require impersonation of holy status:
church and state must be separated (constantly) just as the real world is separate from the dreams you have (a constant effort there as well).

both church and state have their place, but while the division is essential, they should accommodate each other kindly.

You can't love nature and also hate people, because humans are nature. There is new research in genetics that points to evidence there may be as many as 1 trillion species of life forms on this planet right now. Why would you love them all except one? And do you truly love the dengue virus which kills 25,000 people every year? 99.99% of all species that have ever existed Earth are now extinct. To mourn change is like stabbing oneself in the eye.

To govern well, one must be intimately aware of the nature of greed, hatred, and delusion.

Do we really want politicians who mirror and mimic the populace?

The human species would probably not exist without the extinction of the dinosaurs. It was after the extinction event wiped out the dinosaurs that mammals diversified.

All life is to some degree competitive (with other life for resources)
50% percent of life is parasitic
and many parasites inflict great cruelty on their hosts
animals are divided into those that are carnivorous and those that are not
many carnivores inflict great cruelty on their prey
(many scavengers may not)
almost all life is fairly directly dependent on the sun
(the animals and plants we are familiar with)
(the possible exception being microbes etc. found in deep caves)
and plant eating animals of course also kill other life forms.

Considering this it seems to me, that generally folks romanticize life,
and the value of life, because of course we are alive, and like to distinguish ourselves from 'non-living' matter. And because we are mammals, and need cuddling in infancy, are very social creatures, have a strong mating instinct, and need family in infancy to survive with any shot at being happy & healthy, generally.

However the distinction between 'living matter' & 'non-living' matter, becomes much less clear in the case of viruses, and possibly when the question of origins is considered. And the importance of the individual is less clear after the publication of the 'Selfish Gene' by Dawkins.

Given all of this, it may mitigate, for some, the likely fate of the human experiment, when it goes the way of most others.

These are not views, I share with people in everyday life. To do so would seem to me, to be unkind. And most if convinced might find them depressing. Especially those who are raising children, in these very difficult times.

But as I have time consider the matter this how it actually seems to be.
Something similar to my view is found in secular Buddhism, that also dispenses with ritual. But Buddhism is of course at it roots, ignorant of any real science as we know it today.

The 'Selfish Gene' by Dawkins, is of course also not great family reading.
However for those who do not yet have children, and are considering the matter,
the topic of this thread does seem quite relevant.

We will be really stressed out, consume media, eat, bang, fart and die.

The suffering of us, is enough to create a god.

Maybe we're all lining up for cosmic orgasm. Where all our tears will dry and we will become one with the madness of it all.

Its relevant. Ive mention reading the writtings of richard dawkin a waste of time in my part in this thread.

It came to a point that we became parasite instead of being of symbiote, instead of consuming food this way the way it should be, spreading seeds and planting trees. Im poor & practiced eating this way for a year now and felt the huge difference with less processed food.

being in tune with the populace does not mean following their lead,
it means leading with sensitivity,
perhaps I should have used more specific language so that you would not drift into populism.
I am not in favor of stooping to the lowest common denominator.

Words may be clumsy and confuse things, but I think they have very much to do with man's future, and why we are currently mired in a sort of mini-dark age. Hardly anyone reads books anymore. This leads to clumsiness and shabbiness of thought, which leads to the same thing in one's children and their children, which enables a lot of the sheer stupidity in our culture to take place. A hundred years ago, hell, even twenty years ago, a guy like Trump would necessarily have been laughed out of the primaries. In countries like China or Japan -- who do read and are more sophisticated in thought than Americans -- Trump could not get elected, no matter what. Maybe this is partly a deficiency in our vaunted Constitution, and maybe not -- that is the subject of a different thread.

But literacy levels, and critical and complex thought, are necessary for a culture to have mental health, and currently the most powerful nation on Earth is severely lacking in this. This could have profound implications for the future, but I will say I am glad that much of the world appears to be at least less stupid than we are. It is impossible to guess at their fate on this score, however. This incapacity with words can lead a people to do very regrettable things. I dunno, I just think the evolution of language has a lot to do with the safety and future evolution of civilization. We can't write it off, but I suppose hoping for the best is irrelevant, anyway.
