I wish I could share your opinion of the internet. Despite the wide range of coverage I personally find the internet to be more of a problem for an educated electorate than the MSM. Breitbart and infowars vs Fox. My disgust level can handle monied interests better than holocaust deniers etc. And even more than MSNBC vs Fox, I think the internet just lets people source the segment they already believe in.

There are plenty of internet sites that provide FAR better coverage than the mainstream media, and educated people know which sites they can trust and which are bologna.  Here's a small number of the good ones:

theintercept.com
thegrayzone.com
globalresearch.ca
mintpressnews.com
jimmydorecomedy.com (Jimmy was just proven right in questioning the Russiagate narrative)
rt.com (to date, no one on the shroomery has been able to show them to be wrong about anything - though I'm not claiming they never made a mistake)

I agree, and I will look at the sites you listed that I didn't know about, but I still think it's preaching to the converted. I don't see the people on the fence swinging the election to the progressives through this medium.

"asylum claims"

That's the issue here, they're economic migrants seeking asylum from poverty.

No they aren’t. But even if they were, a good way to deny their asylum claims would be to follow US federal law (and the Geneva conventions) and process them, which we aren’t currently doing.

qman said:
I'm not going to defend the status quo when it comes to border and immigration enforcement, it's been a scam for a long time by our politicians.

They know where the illegals are working and they also know all of illegal social security numbers they're using. The system has to fool the people into believing there's a genuine effort to enforce the existing immigration laws, but that's obviously not the case.  The Elite aren't going to piss away their efforts to dilute wages by allowing tens of millions of illegals into the labor market.

The solution is to actually enforce the current immigration laws, not putting on a show for political reasons.

Yes, the record number of deportations, detention facilities, militarization, ending DACA, creation of ICE, and record budgets for the border enforcement apparatus just means the elite are only pretending to be tough on immigrants. How convenient for your position. It means you don’t even have to attempt to explain the inherent contradiction that exists between spending record amounts of money to enforce the border (on the basis that it saves us money).

Could it be, now brace yourself, could it be that our current enforcement strategy is simply a bad solution? Now, granted, you claim to not defend the status quo on immigration (which by the way is EXACTLY what Bernie is offering), so what is the proper solution to this apparent crisis?

My solution, discourage crossings on the border and deport illegals.

Most of the deportations are at the border, that's not rooting out illegals that are working under the table or with illegal SS numbers.  The Elite aren't going to do that to themselves.

The money spent on immigration enforcement is a fraction of the amount The Elite benefit from due to illegal immigrants.

If the experts think it would assist in the enforcement of the border, I'm for it.  It's one piece of the puzzle.

Your solution is impractical.

Your plan is to do things within the apparatus that you’ve already conceded won’t do the things you want.

We could ramp up deportations, deny all asylum claims, build a wall, hire 10,000 more border guards, ramp up the ICE gestapo that tracks down undocumented people throughout the country, and if you still perceive a problem with immigration you can simply rest your head on the convenient argument that the elite aren’t doing it properly.

rt.com.  And I'm waiting for your favorite source.

I have found no source I trust, but this still could be fun.  I'll pick Last Week Tonight as my source. Have at it.

Excellent!  John Oliver is as much an establishment shill as Rachael Maddow.  Pretty much anything the establishment lies about John Oliver also lies about, so this should be easy.  I think the Ecstatic is off to a great start for my side, but I welcome any help for Enlil against rt.

I'll start tomorrow evening after work, as tonight I was out drinking with friends.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

Ah, well yeah I agree with the russiagate thing but coming out against trump on the Mueller investigation is a card he’s kinda forced into playing. Especially since he voted against the Russia sanctions in the Senate, which no doubt will be used against him in the debates.

As far as your second point: Bernie has caught a lot of flack from the left (the actual left) for dismissing reparations as an idea of just writing people checks. He argues the best reparations are his social policies that cater to all oppressed peoples, including poor white workers.

Aside from that, Bernie is building a coalition. I know issues like racism and misogyny and anyisemitism are secondary to you because they don’t apply, but he can’t just only talk about things that apply to one voter bloc, that’s not you win elections. Besides, Bernie’s economic policy largely lines up with that of your own.

But in the process of "building a coalition" with the WOMEN and MINORITIES are victims narrative, it means by default straight white males are the perpetrators.

The identity politics needs to stop, you can't sell unity and social programs while continuously pissing on one specific demographic.

Nobody is pissing on straight white men.

What a better microcosm of identity politics than a white man decrying a victimhood complex of minorities, and then bestowing it upon himself.

You can deny the exclusion of white men and the default position as perpetrator all you want, but that doesn't change anything.

How about stopping with the identity politics and just focus on issues that affect US citizens?  I know, his base wants the cultural revenge/conflict to continue as they scream for "unity".
