Sorry to interrupt yalls 48th congruent thread discussion on immigration but I got some news that pertains to the thread topic:

New Emerson poll out of Wisconsin has Bernie leading the field at 39(!!)%.

This is great news considering Bernie won Wisconsin handily in 2015/16, but more importantly because a Democratic electoral victory in 2020 will require Wisconsin flipping blue.

It’s also pretty funny that MSNBC shared this graphic today, despite Beto polling at 6% in Wisconsin (poll was taken AFTER Beto announced, mind you):

That makes more sense. Booker is polling at like 1% in Iowa.

Holy shit! That's the highest I have seen Bernie poll anywhere. That is excellent news! In 2016, I felt like we were fighting an uphill battle, and now I feel like we've rigged the game!

I love how powerless the mainstream media is proving to be! I don't think Bernie is going to lose a single point he gains. Once he has the people, he keeps them. I think Biden has nowhere to go, but down. The more exposure he gets, the worse he will do.

I agree. Bernie’s two biggest hurdles will be California and the South.

I think he could do alright in the South, actually.

Shit, our boy Qman is gonna vote for him :smirk:

I’m in the South too. Hillary crushes Bernie here in 2016, and all polling so far suggests Biden will take most of the delegates. It’s still early though.

Not that the South shouldn't have a voice in the primaries; but it's frustrating in a way that the South essentially was a huge factor in Hillary winning the primary, when none of those states at all vote D in the electoral.

Super Tuesday is a very frustrating part of the democratic primary, and it gives the south way too much power in the primary process.

While I agree to an extent, the Democratic electorate in the South is disproportionately black, and is virtually the only real leverage African Americans have in the electoral process.

Having open primaries and ranked choice voting would improve on the situation.

Nice strawman, listen to the video- Bernie is stealing my material!!  He has the exact economic philosophy when it comes to immigration.

That like the 1 millionth time you've tried to point out a straw man fallacy when it doesn't exist.

Your policy is zero immigration. Bernie's is not. Please refute.

That's NOT the issue here. WATCH the video, Bernie is stealing my material on immigration!!  :awedance:

In the video you posted "open borders" was said, to which Bernie countered.

Neither you, nor me, nor any of the other Bernie supporters, nor Bernie want open borders. We all agree that border protections are necessary. We all also agree that increased border protections will present little net positive gain for our citizens and economy and might actually create a net loss.

So to be clear, qman's staunch anti-immigration (a zero immigration policy) is not the same as what qman has presented, this despite the fact that qman as well as most of us agree that immigration should be controlled.

The discussion is about the economic IMPACT of illegal immigration, Bernie agrees exactly with me on the issue.

Nah, you’ve moved the goal posts. Bernie might agree on the economic impact of immigration on a very fundamental level, but that doesn’t mean he believes zero immigration is what we should be striving for. There is nuance to his position that you’ve chosen to ignore. Let’s not pretend that some immigration versus no immigration is magically not an economic debate, because if we ignore that then we are living in the land of make believe.
