Bernie on twitter:

“We’re going to provide legal status for the young people eligible for the DACA program, and develop a humane policy for those who seek asylum. No more snatching babies from the arms of their parents.”

This is a bridge too far for qman. Better off re-electing Trump and consolidating the power of the wealthy via GOP policy.

Hmm, how is cutting social nationalism programs into even smaller pieces going to benefit me and other US citizens?

I want my representatives in government to be focused on US citizens, NOT illegal immigrants!!!  :crankey:

Bernie is fucking up if he doesn't stop this nonsense.

There’s a continuing evolution going on. Kamala Harris reversed her position on universal healthcare within 24hours. Biden back tracked on how he felt about Mike Pence the same day. Anything could happen at this point and I wouldn’t be terribly surprised by it.

Establishment Democrats (and their donors) are really getting nervous about the rise non-establishment candidates.

The DCCC just passed new hiring standards
Quote:
The campaign arm on Friday sent out a list of hiring standards to more than 100 political firms, including one provision that made clear it will neither contract with nor recommend to House candidates any political vendors that work to oust sitting members of Congress.

It is intended to help stymie attempts by insurgent progressive groups who plan to primary incumbents deemed insufficiently liberal on key issues.

It could cripple would-be primary opponents’ ability to entice top talent to join their staff.

Bernie Sanders’s reparations comments cause rift over DSA endorsement

Quote:
the group’s AfroSocialist and Socialists of Color Caucus, a section within the organization focused on race and people of color, had asked the 16-member committee to withhold its endorsement of Sanders over his stance on reparations. The independent Vermont senator has declined to back reparations for the descendants of slaves in the United States, arguing that broader anti-poverty programs will help address inequality and that it’s not clear what the term means.

Right, but if the media pushes issues like that, they can turn a number of black voters against him. It's a no win situation. They're going to keep harping on whatever issues that can to divide his base. It's pretty fucked up watching the media frame our elections. Imagine if we didn't have the internet.

I wish I could share your opinion of the internet. Despite the wide range of coverage I personally find the internet to be more of a problem for an educated electorate than the MSM. Breitbart and infowars vs Fox. My disgust level can handle monied interests better than holocaust deniers etc. And even more than MSNBC vs Fox, I think the internet just lets people source the segment they already believe in.

At any rate, what black people think of Bernie could  be a primary issue but not in the general election. Black people are not going to vote Republican, and I doubt black turnout will be much effected if he is the nominee. My stance is that the Democratic Party should focus heavily on mobilizing black women. Then you can be doubly sure they wont vote Republican.

Is social nationalism your new buzzword? Why not national socialism? Oh that has bad connotations...

US citizens want DACA and they want immigration reform.

You realize the money we spend in vain at the border vastly outweighs the costs of illegal immigration, right? And only further entrenches the authority of the police state

Citizenship and national sovereignty becoming meaningless is an immeasurable monetary loss.

With that being said, border enforcement always provides an excellent return on investment for US citizens. Immigrants cost the US hundreds of billions per year, not to mention the massive dilution of wages.

US citizens want our immigration laws enforced, if you want to call that "immigration reform", so be it.

Yes, but I can't imagine Bernie ever gaining traction if cable news and newspapers were the only source of information. It's a lot easier to donate when you just have to punch in your credit card information, also.

Nah to basically all of that.

- processing asylum claims in accordance with Us federal law is hardly rendering national sovereignty meaningless
- Border enforcement does not provide an “excellent” return. You can’t say on one hand that border enforcement is worth every penny and then on the other hand claim it’s necessary because we’re losing “hundreds of billions” to immigrants. Either enforcing the border is working or it isn’t. If it is, you have to demonstrate that the costs of enforcing are a net positive for the United States. If it isn’t, you have to demonstrate why. Should we be spending more on border enforcement? If so, how much? The federal government spends $18B on border enforcement every year, more than the budgets of the DEA, ATF, US Marshall’s, Secret Service, and the FBI combined. And that is just federal dollars, it doesn’t include the billions in state and local law enforcement resources being spent on border enforcement. So if we’re doing all that and STILL losing “hundreds of billions” to illegal immigrants, your solution is failing miserably.
- Yes, the ambiguity of “reform” can mean support from people all of the spectrum on immigration. That said, a vast majority of US citizens are opposed to Trump’s wall, the indefinite detention programs, and the separation of families at the border (not to mention its against US and international law).

I know you like to pretend Bernie is some open borders maniac, but his immigration policy isn’t really all that different from Deporter In Chief Obama.
