Don't worry I wouldn't expect them to pay much attention to what you say, I'm just after your opinion.

I believe that's why your here after all.

I believe you're incorrect

as of 2014 NZ homicide rate:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate
Quote:
New Zealand Oceania 0.99

Do you think it reasonable to expect it to dip much lower than that, even were every single gun in the joint melted down into paperweights?  How much lower?  .55?  At what point do diminishing returns play into the decision making process?

Impossible to say, really. That’s why we should make the decision that saves lives once we reach an unacceptable point of gun violence, and I think this is that for New Zealand.

49 people massacred is an annual thing for the US.

Curious how this affects future shootings in NZ. Will it be more common or less? Hopefully less but with the black markets, u never know

I'm sure that fewer guns will amount to fewer shooting.  Whether or not that actually makes anyone much safer in NZ is debatable.  They already hardly ever shoot each other.  I understand the kneejerk response to these kinds of dramatic and emotional events.  But let's not pretend that these sorts of measures are driven by reason.  It's ok for people to admit they have a phobia.  I don't care for spiders.  It isn't rational, but I still just don't like 'em.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the homicide rate decrease in NZ will be negligible.

Maybe, but is NZ society going to suffer in any meaningful way because of such a ban?

What in the hell does Jordan Peterson have to do with it at all? I don't even like the guy but there's zero connection to be made there.

Hard to say.  Depends on what one considers meaningful.
Here are a couple of competing articles attempting to interpret old english weapons restrictions.  I know why I think monarchs like to restrict weapons, but the articles are interesting to me anyway.  I find it especially interesting that they both want to use english precedent to justify modification to the interpretation of arms rights enacted after a violent revolution from england.  It's funny how convoluted this kind of stuff gets.  I mean, obviously our legal system is largely derived from theirs but this seems like an obvious difference given the context.

But mass shootings aren't really a significant issue.

Statistically, no, but Australia barely has any non mass shootings either.

They don't have the uncivilized gang violence like the US does.

Gangs are mostly black and latino..nothing you can do about that fact. Apparently you already know this since the first thing you guys do is make it a racism issue. Is it true or false that new zealand doesn't have gang problems like America?

Why would someone get ban for attempting to translate a post?  That's harsh.
