Subbed anime is 100% retard and is only necessary when there is no dub.


These are not my words but is how I feel. Was easier to copy paste.

1. Watching subbed anime is too plain and boring.

2. I have no interest in forcing myself to watch something “just because it’s the original” which is a childish excuse.

3. I have my preferences, as does everybody who prefers dub.

4. I started out watching dub, as did many, so it’s only natural.

5. Making an extra effort to read subtitles while listening is no fun, and it DOES NOT make you anymore smarter, cooler, or more important. That’s a fallacy the majority of the anime community has deluded themselves into believing.

A. I’m talking about anime fans who troll, disrespect others for watching dubs instead of subbed. As if the world shines out of their asses.

6. Not everybody is interested in the Japanese language. Or at least not “listening” to it through entertainment. And that, like tea in my sugar, is a preference. NOT a criticism.

7. Because some of us actually appreciate and have a deep level of respect for English voice actors and actresses. Unlike the arrogant, self-important assholes in the anime community who spit on them, as if English VA’s aren’t part of the reason why anime is SO BIG in the first place (internationally).

A. And that includes Funimation and Crunchyroll too as they support it. Which is ironically the same 2 companies these “anime sub extremists” pay to stream anime online.

8. Because it’s easier to relate to someone who speaks the same language as you?

9. Etc, etc, etc.

actually watch and videogame everything with subtitles on, even English titles
noise induced hearing loss from constantly maxing the volume on my discman to drown out people calling me names in high school

arguably the biggest advantage of (fan)subs over dubs is being able to consume media while it is still fresh
and unofficial subs are more typical of pirated anime
which plays into the great debate of whether or not paying for English-audio anime imports is good for the artistic medium
or just for the fat cat companies stuffing their pockets

started out watching fan subs of anime because it was easier to find and download those off kazaa in junior high
but Neon Genesis Evangelion somewhat changed my approach -- have watched it in completion with every available variation of audio to try and find nuanced differences

it is kind of fun to actually watch dubbed animes with subtitles
because there will be plot-critical scenes where the two paint the situations in different ways
and it is interesting to see the clash between how ideas are expressed

of course, all of the above pertains to watching anime at a point in my life when realizing anime was "different" from Western media
as a little kid, also watched the original Dragonball (the one with Goku as a kid, not Z) without realizing it was anything 'other' than a standard Saturday morning cartoon
and never caught on that the Godzilla movies had people whose lips did not necessarily match with what they said because they weren't speaking English during recording

While thankfully I didn't bring myself to a porn implosion - I did find that the height difference is 4' 6" to 5'10" :lol:

Makes the woman on the right even funnier, as you notice the tools used to make her look even more imposing.. but even I'm taller than her and I don't feel like a giant

If anyone knows how to skew size mechanics in film.... its your porn buddies :awesome:
