Things are changing mate.

Socialism is free stuff.

AOC says people can receive benefits even if they choose not to work.

Thanks to AOC for exposing the democrat agenda.

Another aspect of changing times is increased technology.

It is an undeniable fact that efficiency and automation - not outsourcing of labour to developing countries - are the most significant driving factors behind disappearing jobs in traditional industries.

This trend will not reverse.

But isn't this what we've always wanted from society? To reach the point where our advanced technology reduces the need for everyone to work? So than why are we still stuck in this primitive mindset that work must dominate our lives?

Traditional industries like agriculture, resource extraction, manufacturing, and trade transportation have utilized technology to allow less human work-hours to be more productive to the point that one individual can replace entire crews. Things like AI and 3D printing will take this even further in our immediate future.

Do we want to respond to this by creating more and more useless busy work? Because that's the trend. You should look up some of the articles and surveys that have been done. A large percentage of people self-report that their job is a useless bullshit job. We create these jobs because we can't let go of the idea that work should dominate our lives.

Does the idea of a future with endless bureaucracies and middle management and paper pushers (because this tends to be where we create new jobs) sound appealing to you?

How about one where a basic universal income guarantees people can afford a home, food, and other basic essentials - where universal health care guarantees people a standard of health - where education is free and available?

We know that universal healthcare is cheaper than the middleman nightmare in the USA. Preliminary studies suggest that a UBI will actually provide savings by reducing the need for a massive and complicated social welfare bureaucracy. Educated your populace is one of the best investments a country can make - most other metrics used to measure human development increase when education becomes more accessible.

Not to mention the idea that freeing people up from 40+ hr work weeks - and the fear of paying bills when there's no work - would very likely increase innovation in technology and arts as the risk associated with failure won't have as significant of an economic impact. Humans have innovated and created since long before the profit motive or fear of unemployment arrived on scene.

Socialism is when the government does things, and the more things they do the more socialister it is.

She clarified that IS NOT what is being proposed.

Now you know.  You're welcome.
