I use a top layer. :takingnotes:

Try fruiting at spawn with a top layer. Just dont let the top layer dry out, itll act as a casing instead of getting densly colonized.

I just leave the lid on till the pinset fills in and then flip the lid. Works like a charm as long as the spawn is clean and temps within range.

I know, it was a semi-facetious post  Gonna confidently guess OP's a cube grower tho

I'm doing this exact same thing after almost exactly the same time frame.  Let me save you some time.  Check the sticky about trusted cultivator links, and go through bod's "Easy AF" links. It can't possibly get much easier than that to get good results.

I linked his list earlier as "Updated information on anything else you may need " lol... 12/12 literally from  spore to spent... natural(ish) cycle

Aren't gypsum and lye outdated?
And/or, 'supplements'? I don't use any of it, so, just wondering.

Also, why would Lysol be out? Again, just out of curiosity.

I remember, oh, what's that one RR recommended, back in the day, 'Oust'? lol, that was preferred but I'd not heard that Lysol was frowned upon.

Lastly, what are the most popular 'mutants and weird varieties'?

Thanks everyone! great suggestions! Very cool links

12/12 lighting has been shown beneficial to mycelium through all stages of growth from spore to spent

Dark colonization period with restricted FAE is outdated

Liners don't prevent side pins, proper surface conditions do

Many of us fruit from spawn in unmodified tubs with the lid flipped for FAE, with better and faster results than with standard monotub configuration

SHOEBOXES ARE THE SHIT!

Updated information on anything else you may need

Thanks so much! That's a heck of a link/list of teks!

Looking forward to learning all the new tips and tricks. It's great to see this community still going strong and being so helpful.

We are literally a few days apart from when we joined the board. Welcome back, brother. I haven't been to
consistent over the years myself...but this past year I've been trying to get involved.

Thanks! Lots of reading on the new TEKs for me. Iโ€™ll grow some cubes to get my feet wet again. Ill be trying to get enough spawn together for a nice spring outdoor bed. I still donโ€™t know why more  donโ€™t try it. I live in the desert, and the yields are epic. Then I going to jump back into the exotics, still never had a successful pan grow.

It's not that severe. Don't scare people off  Back then Damion 5050 and monotubs were the shit. And...
it still works. Frank and bodhi made some improvements, but it's not that drastic.

It's not that drastic. Growing mushies ain't brain surgery either.

10 years ago I was chopping straw for cubes. I don't do that shit anymore. I used to case all cube grows. Don't do that either. Aside from PE.

Other than that... cubes still like the same environmental conditions they have for the last millennia.

There we go.  Do you know how much reading I had to do over the last few months when you could have just told me this?

Also, sgfc are just about out.
Lc...still a risk Iโ€™m unwilling to take, and for very little benefit...
