I have only found oats. I pour ~8-10lb in a pot, add water, crank the heat till it boils, turn heat to low for a while, strain, air dry overnightish, then load and PC for 2 or more hours. Easy AF and i pay ~$16/50lb

:whathesaid:
Oats are $10.85 50lbs tax and all here.
Really easy prep as well.

As far as getting back into it,after coming back from a long break('05-'17),I have noticed that there were alot of unnecessary steps and procedures back then.
Nowadays,I subscribe to keep it simple.
Find an updated tek and follow it.
If you have experience with the PF tek and are still intimidated by agar and grain(I know I was)you can use your cakes as the spawn for bulk projects, and get the feel for it before jumping in.:awesomenod:

Manure and straw are still in, but if you live in a city in a rental coir is sort of a no brainier.

Supplements work great for low spawn ratios and vigorous edibles like oysters and shiitake

Dude you are in a cube-centric universe. There are people growing other psychedelic mushroom species.

Marthas are still used.
Straw is still used.
Poop is still used.
WBS is still used.
Casing is still used.

And plenty.

12/12 lighting has been shown beneficial to mycelium through all stages of growth from spore to spent

Dark colonization period with restricted FAE is outdated

Liners don't prevent side pins, proper surface conditions do

Many of us fruit from spawn in unmodified tubs with the lid flipped for FAE, with better and faster results than with standard monotub configuration

SHOEBOXES ARE THE SHIT!

Updated information on anything else you may need

Wow, really? After spawning to coir I didn't give my tubs light until the sub was completely colonized... Should I be giving them 12/12 cycle at that time as well?

Saves me some effort! Then at least I don't have to wrap anything with garbage bags anymore  :headbang:

Edit: so I also don't have to limit FAE during sub colonization either? Won't it start pinning early?

The colony will only begin fruiting once the substrate is colonized. The only time it seems early is when the uncolonized substrate is contaminated or completely dry.

Sometimes coir doesnt colonize fully, and still fruits fine. I actually think i get better flushes when the top layer isnt colonized.

No, just a top layer.

I just mean sometimes coir doesnt fully colonize b4 it fruits. I dont have any pics rn cuz i have a new phone and all my old grow pics were in that phone.

But ive had my entire surface barely showing any mycelium and still got good flush. Most of the time it does colonize fully, but ive had it not and still do fine.

I'm doing this exact same thing after almost exactly the same time frame.  Let me save you some time.  Check the sticky about trusted cultivator links, and go through bod's "Easy AF" links. It can't possibly get much easier than that to get good results.
