LCs & bags- ??s

whats happenin yall?
i have learned a lot in the past 2 years or so
but past year has not been super successful with myco projects
i would like to try new strategies
i have some extra funds at this time to invest a bit in new supplies and equipment
wont last long, ha

i can clean cultures on agar all day
and i can go ms-spawn-small trays pretty consistently
i would like to get my agar cultures to spawn and fruit,
but have struggled to make clean transfers from wedge-spawn jars
and have been unsuccessful at all attempts at LC thus far. jar lids leak.
with strong LC i think i can work on monotubs or other larger grows

i would like to figure out LC
and i think i want to upgrade to spawn bags
i think jar lids are screwing me up

for LC:

i need better lids
whatman filter type the best option, correct?

should i make my own, or buy some pre-made ready to go?

im thinking i should just buy some pre-made, then if need more, can make them myself using the pre-made as an example
especially if i am to upgrade to using bags for spawn runs, these lids would only be for a few LC jars, and I would rather pay for quality than trust my sloppy handy-work. that is, if i am actually paying for quality...

im sure there are several sponsors who offer these, is there any difference between these products, or "extra-features" that i may or may not want?

and to make these myself, i basically make two holes in a lid, fit one with whatman filter, seal that and fill the other with rtf silicone, and viola?
how do i avoid rust/corrosion? are there plastic lid options that are PC-safe??

for bags:

i need bags-
with or without filter patch? how would i provide GE without filter patch?
then, micropore tape? how do i get LC or wedges into sterile spawn bag, and maintain sterility? for LC, inject (through plastic, or through filter, or does it matter?) then cover with tape, correct? what about wedges??
then i need a bag sealer?
is there anything else that is absolutely essential for this method? what about non-essential, but advantageous? general tips??

apologies for the long post, and i know most of this has been answered, i've been reading, just would like some clarification and any extra tips.

I read the first two paragraphs. Fuck all the rest of that noise.

Get your technique down. If you don't have that, scaling up is just gonna mean having to throw away a lot more highly illegal trash.

Getting a wedge cleanly into a jar isn't that hard, there's just a few hard rules. Cut a triangle. Never have your hand over anything that's open. Get a scalpel or X-acto and grab it by the middle or farther back. Scoop the wedge, don't stab it. Watch RR's videos (you might have to buy them, I forget what's in the previews). Don't open anything any longer than you have to. Do a million dry runs until you can cleanly and smoothly remove lids and bands together. Don't bump your box. Pre-loosen your bands 1/4 turn.

That's all I can think of right now that you absolutely can't skip.

I read a great tek on transfers from agar, basically you fill a syringe with distilled water and sterilize it, then you take your petri, pasty plate, jar or whatever you use for agar, take your syringe and poke the mycelium straight down and pull up, upon pulling the syringe out a little piece of mycelium and agar will be inside the syringe needle than you inject into whatever you want, it works great only downside is your inoculating with such a small piece of agar that it can take an extra couple days before you see growth but it works out good for me. It's such a small piece you wont be able to see it in the syringe needle unless you have a very wide needle but it works like a charm!

-this a recent issue, i used to make clean agar-grain transfers until ~a year ago

-i used to be able to hold the insert in place, loosen & remove the rings, lift the insert, drop the sample, replace the ring & tighten swiftly

-the brand of canning jars that are locally available changed the lid design- the rings stick to the insert, & don't come off smoothly once sealed

-i could source diff lids, prob need to order online...

-figure lets try bags & proper lc lids
