Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

I think most 'natives' now support a Bernie style Medicare for All, where everyone pays 2.2% of their income for healthcare.  It works out to be cheaper for the bottom 95%.

I have always been an advocate of universal health care in the US.

I agree, using and abusing the ER is a very poor policy.

Employers of immigrants get off the hook with this whole thing, it always lands on Joe Six-Pack.

The government already knows where they work, yet nothing is done about it.  The elite run the show on immigration, too bad so many natives support their policy to enrich themselves at their own expense.

That's why I suggested that, if we had an immigration policy like the one Christopera had suggested, and we had universal healthcare, we could make employers pay a special tax for each immigrant worker they employ/sponsor's medical coverage. That would be miles better than having illegal/undocumented immigrants flooding ER's, and not paying their medical bills.

That makes it so much less appealing to hire illegals, the elite love the status quo.

They certainly do. Their interests are not terribly concerning to me, however.

Afaik, we still have universal health care it's just defunded.  I'd prefer not to have any policy with execution by guillotine written in it though even if it doesn't cover actual medical problems.

We've never had universal healthcare, and we don't have any policy with 'execution by guillotine' written in it. What the fuck are you talking about?

No, it wasn't great, just a little better than before.  People now want Medicare for All.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

Obamacare wasn't a really good health system imo.  E978 was creepy enough without conspiracy theorists making videos and stuff.  I think it was just going to be abused.

What's all this 'was'/'wasn't' business? We still have the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) to the best of my knowledge, and it's astronomically better than what we had before.

all of the jobs that offered healthcare are a waste of time now

why make 2-3 dollars more than min
when you can not have a job or work part time and get health care anyway

the big business of this country aren't paying any of it's workers shit, hyper inflation and taxes and the upper class are wrecking this country

Job competition should increase with universal healthcare because people won't be tied to jobs simply for that benefit. They'll have the freedom to explore other options.

That's an interesting caveat.

We may even have some older people drop out of the labor force altogether, if they no longer need to work to maintain their health insurance. That could possibly create more demand for workers.

fuck yeah, and it would be a major boon (in terms of attracting the best employees) to small businesses that can't afford to offer the same healthcare benefits that larger companies can.

And if we were all doctors and nurses, we could all provide our own healthcare, but that isn't really realistic, is it?

How you coaxed a point out of that... just astounding.

The problem with universal healthcare is that it will prolong the lives of bad people.
