no mycelium growth

So it's been 6 days and there is nothing happening in the jars. zero action.  curious if I should panic and inoculate some more, or wait it out?  i didn't take a pic cause it's just grain in the jar, nothing to see.

This probably shouldn't be in advanced Mycology. I'm sure a mod will move it for you.

Did you use spores or liquid culture? Spores can take up to 3 weeks to germinate.

ah yes this was a syringe job, so I guess I'm in for a good wait.  Can you recommend a good tek to make LC from spores? thanks

I just recently returned to this forum so I'm not really up to date on the teks.

Last one I made I used 500ml of water with 3 Tablespoons of honey. I think it may have been a little too much nutrients but it worked. I'm sure someone else can refer you to a tek.

The thing with liquid culture is that its impossible to tell if its contaminated by looking at it. The only sure way to tell is growing it out on an agar plate.

Personally, I have had success making LC without testing it, but if your LC is contaminated it will ruin every single jar you inoculate. So you have to weigh the risks.

I suggest you ask yourself

Is it worth it for you to risk losing your whole grow for faster colonization?

As I said before you could mitigate that by testing the LC on an agar plate.

If this is your first grow I suggest you go from start to finish first before trying more advanced techniques. I didn't heed my own advice on this, and it led to unnecessary frustration

Start with brf cakes and lc's . 6 cakes and 6lc (just one drop). Myc grows fastest when not picked up. I know, but leave it alone...it's better off without you touching it. Label lc's 1-6 and test them. Gl

Get agar running for clean lc, and then your grains will colonize greatly.
